A major strength of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is consistently excellent casting, even when stories aren’t at their peak. That’s why we’re seeing so many familiar faces from the old Netflix Marvel shows returning, like in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again. Actors like Charlie Cox and Krysten Ritter truly became Daredevil and Jessica Jones for audiences, defining those characters for a new generation. But no one embodies this quite like Jon Bernthal, who was unforgettable as The Punisher, Frank Castle.
Jon Bernthal is returning as the Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe this summer with two projects: a Disney+ special called The Punisher: One Last Kill and the new movie Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The first trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill has just been released, and it looks like this special will offer a fresh, new direction for the character.
The Punisher: One Last Kill Reveals a New Take on the Marvel Vigilante

The trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill reveals two key things. First, this version of the Punisher is a more psychologically complex take on the character than we’ve seen in previous movies. While other adaptations focused mainly on action, with only glimpses of Frank Castle’s inner turmoil, One Last Kill dives deeper into his mental state, showing him experiencing actual hallucinations. This approach is new for the character, and includes a surreal scene where Castle envisions himself alongside a classic version of the Punisher.
The latest trailer for The Punisher: One Last Kill gives us a good look at the film’s action. Even in the short clip, we see several fight scenes featuring Frank Castle. He’s shown battling numerous enemies on a rooftop, defending against attacks with axes and guns, and it’s clear he’ll be taking some serious damage as well.
This is a developing story, it will be updated.
