Project Cloud Games recently unveiled a new trailer for their action RPG, The Relic: First Guardian, highlighting the game’s scary side. The trailer, called “Official Horror Showcase,” features a scene inspired by the classic Korean folktale, The Heavenly Maiden and the Woodcutter.
The story centers around a woman haunted by her inability to forget the sky. Evidence of her life remains in the woodcutter’s secluded forest home, including disturbing items like bloody shackles and a cage. As the narrator explains, “The moment she couldn’t see the sky, she lost herself.” The trailer then hints at a challenging battle against a distorted version of this woman. The narrator clarifies this isn’t a tale of a curse or punishment, but rather “the story of someone who lost the sky” – a loss of something essential to her being.
The enemy we’ll face in The Relic: First Guardian is unsettling and appears to be undead. She moves with unnatural speed and her attacks look stiff and unnatural. Her appearance also suggests she was previously tortured by the woodcutter.
In September 2025, Project Cloud Games released two trailers showing off gameplay. The first trailer gave a brief glimpse of the game’s combat, while the second offered a more detailed look at one of the game’s starting areas.
Based on the extended gameplay reveal, The Relic: First Guardian appears to be inspired by the ‘Souls-like’ genre. Combat will focus on deliberate, lengthy attacks – players will need to time their moves carefully, as mistakes will be penalized. The game also features a quicker combat style using dual blades, allowing for fast-paced combos.
The video begins in a village engulfed in flames, and the action quickly intensifies with a battle against Branko, the Bloodstained Shield. Beyond that fight, the level introduces diverse gameplay as the player explores underground areas to save survivors from remaining enemies.
The Relic: First Guardian was first revealed in 2021, and the developers at Project Cloud Games have been gradually sharing details ever since. The game is set in the world of Arsiltus, and its story draws heavily from Korean folklore, as seen in the recent trailer. Players will take on the role of a hero trying to save Arsiltus after a catastrophic event broke the land apart. To do so, they must reassemble a powerful relic that was mysteriously shattered.
This action RPG will include 70 unique bosses called Brutals. Players can battle them using a diverse range of weapons, and the game features a combat system with blocking and precise timing, similar to the one found in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
The action RPG The Relic: First Guardian will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S starting May 26th. The game’s release date was originally revealed in December along with a gameplay trailer.
