The Repair Shop return date confirmed by BBC – and it’s arriving this month with some emotional stories

Good news for fans of The Repair Shop: the BBC has announced the show will return very soon!

Season 15 premiered on October 1st, 2025, but after five episodes, it went on hiatus in November.

The next episode, number 6, will be available on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at 8 PM. You can watch it on BBC One and the iPlayer.

This week on the show, Dom and Sonnaz work together to restore an old salon hairdryer, David carefully fixes some detailed Nigerian carvings, and Rebecca tackles a rugby flag with a fascinating story behind it.

Will Kirk, the star of the popular series, announced a temporary break from filming by posting a photo of the show’s workshop on Instagram. He captioned the image, “School’s out. See you next year,” according to Hello! magazine.

A special Christmas episode of The Repair Shop aired on Boxing Day to entertain viewers during the show’s break. The episode featured guest appearances, including Helen Mirren, who brought in a damaged cello from the 1800s. The cello belonged to her late friend, theatre director Martin Landau, and was broken by Nazi soldiers when he escaped to Britain as a teenager.

Becky Houghton, from The Repair Shop, described how emotionally involved she became while restoring a cello. She explained that wood seems to absorb history, and she could feel this particular instrument needed careful attention. She called it her most challenging repair yet, admitting she became completely immersed in the process, working late into the night. She was determined to bring the cello back to life.

Houghton described the moment Dame Helen collected the cello as deeply moving. She was delighted with how the barn had been renovated and reacted to the instrument as if reuniting with a cherished friend. Houghton also shared that they surprised her with a performance by cellist Raphael Wallfisch, who played the cello in the barn.

Julia Donaldson and Rob Brydon made special appearances on the 2025 Christmas special, challenging furniture restorer Will Kirk and ceramics expert Kirsten Ramsay to fix a beloved toy farmhouse.

Season 15, episode 6 of The Repair Shop will be broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer on Wednesday, January 28th, 2026, at 8 PM.
