CD Projekt RED has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting an update to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro’s improved hardware, meaning players with the new console will experience even better graphics.
The new update will be released tomorrow, April 8th, 2026. The PlayStation Blog has shared some information about what’s included.
The game really showcases the console’s power, especially with its updated PSSR technology. According to global art director Kuba Knapik, the improvements are stunning, making every detail of Night City – from glowing katanas to pedestrians and fast cars – feel incredibly realistic and vibrant.
The Pro update significantly enhances lighting quality with features like ray tracing for realistic lights, shadows, and reflections. This is achieved using an advanced technology called BVH8, which efficiently organizes objects in a scene.
With this update, Pro users will have three graphics settings to choose from, each focusing on different priorities.
- Ray Tracing Pro: Enables all ray tracing effects, targets 30 frames-per-second (40fps on VRR-enabled displays)
- Ray Tracing: Enables select ray tracing enhancements, targets 60fps
- Performance: No ray tracing enabled, emphasises frame rate (up to 90fps on VRR-enabled displays)
