Okay, as a huge Tolkien fan, I’m really excited about what’s coming with The Rings of Power! We just got a sneak peek at Season 3, and it sounds like filming is moving along well, which hopefully means we’ll see it in 2026. The show is about halfway through the creators’ planned five-season arc, and after that Season 2 finale, things are definitely heating up. Sauron has the Nine Rings now, the Elves are reeling from the battle, and honestly, he’s looking pretty powerful going into Season 3. They’re promising to really expand on his story and pull in even more details from Tolkien’s books. Plus, they’re adding new faces – I’m especially intrigued by Jamie Campbell Bower, who you might know from Stranger Things. It sounds like Season 3 is going to be epic!
So, production on The Rings of Power Season 3 officially wrapped on December 10th, and the show’s X account dropped a fun little video featuring the cast. While newcomer Bower is still keeping his character close to the vest, he did give us a quick peek behind the scenes – and a cheeky admission that he’d broken the ‘no photos’ rule! The 30-second clip doesn’t reveal much, but it definitely hints at one of the major storylines we can expect. Honestly, just knowing filming is done is enough to get fans excited and start buzzing about a potential release date. It’s a good day for Rings of Power watchers!

The Rings of Power Video Teases Season 3’s Biggest Storyline

Owain Arthur, who plays Durin, hints that Season 3 will feature expansive new settings, but the latest promotional video for The Rings of Power doesn’t reveal much. We do see Ismael Cruz Córdova training, confirming Arondir will return to the fight. The video also shows Sauron’s crown and several swords, but the most compelling footage focuses on the coming destruction of Númenor. This event is a major part of Tolkien’s Second Age, and the series appears to be building towards it in Season 3.
The soldiers dressed in blue and gold seem to be from Númenor, suggesting a major battle is coming in the next part of the story. We only see them for a moment before the video shifts to footage of the actors and quick shots of Arondir preparing his arrows and the Orcs getting ready to fight. Despite the brief glimpses, it’s enough to build anticipation for the return of The Rings of Power.
When The Rings of Power Could Return Now That Filming Has Wrapped

While there’s no confirmed release date for Season 3 of The Rings of Power, filming has finished, suggesting it might arrive in 2026. It still needs to be edited and finalized, so a later release within the year is possible, or even in 2027. However, the two-year wait between the first and second seasons gives fans hope for a 2026 premiere. Until then, we can only guess what the new season will bring – and wonder who Bower’s character will be!
