This summer, “The Rising of the Shield Hero” has returned with fresh episodes! As we kick off Season 4, a brand-new opening theme tune has been introduced to mark the occasion. The anime scene is sizzling this Summer 2025 as an exciting tsunami of new anime series are set to make their grand entrances throughout July. Apart from numerous debuts, established franchises are returning with new installments after a hiatus. Atop this list is “The Rising of the Shield Hero,” where our hero Naofumi and his companions embark on a journey to a new territory.
In two years since the conclusion of Season 3, “The Rising of The Shield Hero” continues its grand adventure, with Naofumi and his companions embarking on their next phase towards the Beastmen’s nation. With a looming danger affecting Raphtalia at the end of Season 3, Naofumi must address these issues before the impending new wave strikes. The season kicks off with a fresh opening theme titled “Resolution,” sung by MADKID, which you can listen to in the video below.
What’s New for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4?
In a return to the helm for Season 4 of “The Rising of the Shield Hero,” Hitoshi Haga steps up as director from Kinema Citrus. Meanwhile, script duties are taken on by Keigo Koyonagi. The trio of Franziska van Wulfen, Sana Komatsu and Masahiro Suwa now take charge of character designs. Takanori Yamamoto serves in the capacity of assistant director, while Kevin Penkin is back to compose the music. Voice actors Takeo Otsuka as Werner and Jiro Saito as Jaralis are added to the cast for the upcoming season, first appearing in the premiere episode.
In case you missed it, Season 4 of “The Rising of The Shield Hero” is currently airing on Crunchyroll, and if you’re not up-to-date, you can easily catch up with the first three seasons that are also available there. This season consists of 12 episodes, which makes it a single cour, meaning it will conclude before the start of the Fall 2025 anime lineup. However, his arrival in the Beastman nation sets off complications as his role as the Shield Hero hinders his ability to act swiftly. Therefore, it appears that Season 4 will primarily focus on the events unfolding within this new nation, with Naofumi needing to be constantly vigilant against a looming time constraint.
