It’s increasingly difficult for movies to get good reviews on sites like Rotten Tomatoes. There’s so much new content available, and critics are very discerning with their time. They won’t automatically give a sequel a pass just because the first movie was popular. For example, the recent film Wicked: For Good is having trouble staying above a 70% approval rating, while the original earned an impressive 88%. Filmmakers can’t rely on past success and expect the same positive reception now – they need to consistently deliver high-quality work.
Stage 6 Films knew they had a hit on their hands with their new movie, Sisu: Road to Revenge. The original film, about a Finnish war veteran fighting off Nazis, became incredibly popular and earned high praise for its exciting action and compelling story. Now, expectations were already high for the sequel, and it’s proving to be even better.
After receiving 64 reviews, Road to Revenge has a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is slightly better than the first movie. Audiences also seem to love it, giving it a 90% score on the Popcornmeter – a 2% increase from the original. Early reactions suggest that Road to Revenge builds on everything fans enjoyed about the first film, keeping the story fresh and the characters engaging.
Look, when a franchise consistently delivers, audiences are forgiving. And honestly, Road to Revenge feels like a perfect ending to this particular story arc. The filmmakers have earned the right to move on if they want to, and it’s satisfying to see them do so. That said, I wouldn’t entirely rule out a return to the world of Sisu down the line – the potential is still there.
The Future of the Sisu Franchise Is Bright

While promoting his film Road to Revenge, director Jalmari Helander was questioned about making a sequel. He didn’t commit to directing another one right away, but he also didn’t rule it out completely.
He wasn’t sure if the story was truly over, telling MovieWeb that ‘Road to Revenge’ felt like a satisfying conclusion. He suggested Aatomi might have found peace or a new direction, but also admitted that trouble could easily find him again in the future.
Even if we don’t see another film from him right away, Aatomi has earned a lot of praise, and fans will be excited for his next project. John Wick might have a new rival – Aatomi is a strong, silent action hero who’s definitely making an impact.
Sisu: Road to Revenge is in theaters now.
