For many years, Homer Simpson, the head of the family on The Simpsons, has been known for having very little hair – just three strands! Throughout the show’s long run, which is now confirmed to continue through at least season forty, Homer has held various jobs and faced countless challenges. While Homer has occasionally regained some hair in the past, the way it happens in a recent crossover event is particularly surprising.
Beginning November 1st, Fortnite is teaming up with The Simpsons! The game will feature new skins and items inspired by the show, and even transform its map to look just like Springfield. To celebrate, a special animated short shows the world of The Simpsons colliding with Fortnite, complete with a visit from Kang and Kodos. Their antics lead to powerful crystals appearing in Springfield, and, naturally, Homer ends up with one.
As usual, Homer Simpson gets into trouble! He sticks a strange crystal into his TV remote, which unexpectedly gives him incredible power. He then tries to use these newfound abilities to improve life for everyone in Springfield – and even briefly gives himself a full head of hair. Things get really weird when Moe starts serving a different drink, showing that this crazy crossover event is fully underway. You can watch the animated crossover now!
The Simpsons Hop Aboard The Battle Bus
The new Fortnite/Simpsons collaboration begins today, November 1st, and lasts until November 29th. It’s a shorter event than typical Fortnite seasons, but it dramatically changes the game by recreating the entire town of Springfield for players to discover.
This isn’t the first video game to bring Springfield to life. Many fans consider The Simpsons: Hit & Run, released in 2003 for GameCube, PlayStation 2, and Xbox, to be the best game based on the show. It let players control Homer and his family in an open-world style similar to Grand Theft Auto, allowing them to explore Springfield and cause plenty of trouble. And this isn’t the first time Homer has been depicted with a full head of hair!
That Time Homer Got Hair

In the early days of The Simpsons, Homer briefly had the opportunity to restore his hairline, which led to a positive change in his life. In the episode “Simpson and Delilah,” he discovered a hair growth formula called “Dimoxinil” that gave him a full head of hair overnight. This led to a promotion at work and other good things happening. However, Bart tried to use the formula to grow a beard and accidentally spilled it, causing Homer to lose his hair and his good fortune. This wasn’t the only time Homer experienced hair regrowth, but another instance involved a much more unsettling situation.
One memorable segment from The Simpsons‘ “Treehouse of Horror IX” features Homer getting a hair transplant… for Snake! The segment, called “Hell Toupee,” is a funny take where the hairpiece comes to life and takes control of Homer, forcing Chief Wiggum and the police to shoot at it. Throughout the series, The Simpsons has often shown Homer with a full head of hair in flashbacks. However, he’s been bald for most recent episodes—until this Fortnite collaboration, which proves even Homer’s hairstyle isn’t permanent.
