A fantastic new mod has transformed *The Simpsons: Hit and Run* into a full-fledged *Futurama* game, complete with new missions and voice acting. While the PlayStation 2 hosted many excellent licensed games, *The Simpsons: Hit and Run* was a standout title. It successfully blended the open-world gameplay of games like Grand Theft Auto with the iconic setting and characters of Springfield, making it one of the best adaptations of an animated series ever – and it’s still enjoyable today.
For years, fans have wanted a modern remake of *The Simpsons: Hit and Run*, the popular open-world game, for today’s consoles. However, that probably hinges on Disney approving the project, which doesn’t seem very likely right now. The last major Simpsons console game was *The Simpsons Game* in 2007, released alongside the movie. Perhaps a new game could happen if *The Simpsons Movie 2* becomes a reality, but that still seems like a long shot.
The Simpsons: Hit and Run Gets a Futurama Mod
Despite being an older game, the original still has a dedicated fanbase. For several years, a group called Slurm Team has been creating a *Futurama* mod for *The Simpsons: Hit and Run*. This mod lets players control Fry, customize his appearance, and interact with other characters from the show.
Futurama, created by the same team behind The Simpsons, takes place in the future where humans coexist with robots and aliens in a surprisingly normal world. While there was a Futurama video game for the PlayStation 2, the developers at Slrum Team believed the game’s style would fit better with their existing game, *The Simpsons: Hit and Run*.
You can download a free demo of the mod right now! It lets you try out some story missions, races, vehicles, and even a custom map. While the demo uses computer-generated voices, the final version will feature voice acting. It’s a really impressive project that fans are sure to enjoy.
This probably won’t stop people from asking for a new *Simpsons: Hit and Run* game, but it’s a nice bonus for fans. You will need to own the original PC version of *The Simpsons: Hit and Run* to use it, which might be a problem for some players.
