I just saw the first trailer for ‘The Social Reckoning,’ and it’s wild! We finally get to see Jeremy Strong, who you probably know from ‘Succession,’ playing Mark Zuckerberg. It’s a really interesting first look at his take on the role.
Hugh Strong is now portraying Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, taking over the role previously played by Jesse Eisenberg in the 2010 hit film, The Social Network.
The new film is described as a follow-up to the previous one, and Aaron Sorkin is back writing the script. This time, he’s also directing, taking over from David Fincher who directed the first film.
This time, we’re looking at the events that led to the publication of “The Facebook Files,” a groundbreaking Wall Street Journal investigation that sparked a major scandal in 2021.
Mikey Madison, an Academy Award winner, plays Frances Haugen, a former Facebook engineer. She teamed up with journalist Jeff Horwitz (played by Jeremy Allan White) to reveal the company’s hidden practices, a risky move that exposed its closely held secrets.

The show features a talented cast, including Wunmi Mosaku, known for her Oscar-nominated role in ‘Sinners,’ Betty Gilpin from ‘GLOW,’ Billy Magnussen of ‘The Franchise,’ and comedian Bill Burr.
The trailer shows Frances and Jeff talking about their plan to reveal confidential information. Frances clarifies that her goal isn’t to damage Facebook, but to improve it.
I remember watching Mark Zuckerberg testify before Congress – it was surreal. He actually described himself as a “professional defendant,” which felt so strange. Things just kept escalating as we learned more about what Frances Haugen was claiming, and it became clear they were trying to discredit her too. It was a really intense time.
In a heated climax, Zuckerberg angrily declares, “That’s enough! Everyone here knows that if I say no, the discussion is over.”

The Social Reckoning will be released in UK cinemas on Friday 9 October.
