The BBC has revealed the actors who will star in its new series, The Split Up, including Sanjeev Bhaskar, known for his role in Unforgotten.
I’m really excited about this new legal drama! It’s a spin-off of ‘The Split,’ but this time it’s set in Manchester and focuses on Kishan Law, a really successful British South Asian family firm. The series, created by Ursula Rani Sarma, centers around Druv, played by Bhaskar, and how his firm attracts the city’s wealthiest and most influential people. It looks like it’s going to be a fascinating look into that world.
But when a long-held family secret is revealed, everything changes for them – both at work and at home – and the future of their company becomes uncertain.
Bhaskar is joined by Ritu Arya, who stars as his daughter, Aria, in the series (see photo below).
Aysha Kala and Arian Nik play Aria’s siblings, Maya and Kai, in the series.
The film also stars Danny Ashok (known for his role in Dinosaur), Dimitri Leonidas (from Those About To Die), Mawaan Rizwan (Juice), Sindhu Vee (Matilda the Musical), Shalini Peiris (The White Lotus), and Tom Forbes (Queenie).

The show will also feature appearances by Lenny Henry, known for ‘Three Little Birds,’ Jane Horrocks from ‘Bloods,’ and Jameela Jamil of ‘The Good Place’.
I was really excited about The Split Up, the spin-off series, and heard they were planning to start filming in Manchester in October 2024. But then things got put on hold. Apparently, the team needed more time to really nail down the story and creative vision, so they paused production – they called it “editorial reasons.” It’s a bit of a bummer, but I’d rather they take the time to get it right!
Production began in October 2025 – approximately one year on from its original target.

Kaamil Shah, a writer for the upcoming show The Split Up, has hinted that it will feature a lot of sensual content.
In an exclusive interview with TopMob, he shared his excitement about a new show, saying he finds it ‘really sexy.’ He’s proud to be part of a project that authentically portrays the complex and dramatic lives – including relationships, affairs, and all the ups and downs – of British Asians. He believes the show has genuinely thrilling moments and is looking forward to its release.
