The Status of Every MCU TV Show: What’s Cancelled, What’s Renewed & What’s Next

Disney+ released a lot of Marvel shows – sixteen, to be exact – between 2021 and 2025. While these shows were fun, having so many of them may have diminished the impact of the Marvel movies in theaters. It’s hard to get excited about a movie when a related TV series has just finished. Marvel seems to realize they made too many shows too quickly and has started to pace things out a bit. But Disney+ isn’t done with Marvel series yet, and that’s a good thing! Several current shows look promising, and there are some exciting new ones on the way, so let’s take a look at what’s coming up.

The list didn’t include older Marvel shows like the Netflix series *Daredevil*, *Jessica Jones*, and *The Defenders*. While these shows are now considered part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they weren’t originally and have all finished their runs. The three Marvel shows that aired on ABC – *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.*, *Agent Carter*, and *Inhumans* – were also left out.

17) WandaVision

Marvel’s first and arguably best Disney+ series, *WandaVision*, was designed as a one-time story, so it won’t be getting a second season. But elements of its story have continued in *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* and the *Agatha All Along* series, and another series, *Vision Quest*, is planned to further explore the storyline.

16) The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Like *WandaVision*, *The Falcon and the Winter Soldier* was a limited series, but it didn’t quite have the same impact. However, its storylines are continuing in the films *Captain America: Brave New World* and *Thunderbolts*.

15) Loki

Similar to the success of *WandaVision*, *Loki* was a standout series. It was the first Marvel show on Disney+ to get a second season, and many fans actually thought Season 2 was even stronger than the first. A key purpose of the show was to introduce the character of Kang the Conqueror, though the Marvel Cinematic Universe ultimately moved away from that storyline. However, the character Hunter B-15, played by Wunmi Mosaku, has continued to appear, most recently in *Deadpool & Wolverine*. As for Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, he’s now expected to appear in *Avengers: Doomsday* instead of a third season of *Loki*.

14) What If…?

The animated series *What If…?* premiered its first nine episodes in 2021 as part of Marvel’s Phase Four. Season 2 arrived in late 2023, and Season 3 followed in 2024. Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that the show won’t be renewed for a fourth season, as the story of the Watcher has come to a natural conclusion. However, a spin-off series called *Marvel Zombies* is in development, and we’ll share more details about that soon.

13) Hawkeye

The *Hawkeye* series felt like a complete story, which was good, but it also marked what seems to be the end of Jeremy Renner’s time as Clint Barton in the MCU, aside from a voice appearance in *What If…?* Season 2. Several other actors from the show have continued to appear in Marvel projects. Alaqua Cox starred in her own series, *Echo*, Tony Dalton reprised his role as Jack Duquesne in *Daredevil: Born Again*, and Florence Pugh has voiced Yelena Belova in *Marvel Zombies* and will lead *Thunderbolts*. She’s also expected to have a significant part in the next *Avengers* movie, *Doomsday*.

Hailee Steinfeld has been involved in several Marvel projects, voicing Kate Bishop in episodes of *What If…?* Season 3 and *Marvel Zombies*. She also made a brief appearance in *The Marvels*, hinting at a potential future show featuring the *Champions* team. This team would include Kate Bishop (Hawkeye), Cassie Lang (Stature), Ironheart, Ms. Marvel, Wiccan, and America Chavez, but the show hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

12) Moon Knight

Despite seeming like a show that could have continued beyond one season, *Moon Knight* remains a limited series on Disney+. While Oscar Isaac reprised his role as the character in an episode of *What If…?*, he isn’t currently planned to appear in any future Marvel projects, including the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday*.

11) Ms. Marvel

Okay, so it looks like *Ms. Marvel* probably won’t be getting another season – even some of the people involved seem to think that’s the case. But honestly, I’m not worried about Iman Vellani disappearing from the MCU! She’s absolutely perfect as Kamala Khan and clearly loves playing the role. We’ve already seen her pop up in *The Marvels* and *Marvel Zombies* since *Ms. Marvel* first aired, and there’s even talk of her being in *Avengers: Secret Wars*! I’m really excited to see what Marvel has planned for her next.

10) She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

The Disney+ series *She-Hulk: Attorney at Law* feels somewhat disconnected, as it hasn’t significantly impacted the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe after releasing three years ago. While star Tatiana Maslany hasn’t been in any other MCU projects since, there are rumors she might appear in the upcoming *Avengers: Doomsday*. Fans are also hoping the film will give Patty Guggenheim’s character, Madisynn King, a role to play – perhaps even a surprisingly important one, like accidentally saving the universe from Doctor Doom.

9) Secret Invasion

Most Marvel fans weren’t impressed with *Secret Invasion*, and thankfully, it was just a limited series. The ending doesn’t really leave room for a second season. While Samuel L. Jackson reprised his role as Nick Fury in *The Marvels*, that movie happened *before* the events of *Secret Invasion*, which seems to be the last time we’ll see this original character.

8) Echo

Similar to Iman Vellani, Alaqua Cox began her acting career with a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and immediately proved to be a captivating performer. It’s difficult to picture the *Echo* series happening without her strong performance. While there are no current plans for a second season of the miniseries, it’s unlikely that Echo’s story with Kingpin is over, or that Marvel Studios has seen the last of Alaqua Cox.

7) Agatha All Along

Just to clarify, *Agatha All Along* was always planned as a limited series, meaning a second season isn’t in the works. That said, Kathryn Hahn was fantastic in the show, and she might appear in future Marvel projects. Currently, though, she and Joe Locke (who played Wiccan) don’t have any confirmed roles, unless a *Champions* series gets made.

6) Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

The positive response to *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* has led to renewals for both a second and third season. Season 2 is planned for 2026, and while Season 3 doesn’t have a confirmed release date, given that Season 1 premiered this year, it’s likely to arrive in 2027.

5) Daredevil: Born Again

The new series *Daredevil: Born Again* fully brings Charlie Cox’s Daredevil into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after his brief appearances in *She-Hulk*, *Spider-Man: No Way Home*, and *Echo*. Originally planned as one 18-episode season, it’s now been split into two, with the second season arriving in March 2026. A special featuring the Punisher is also expected in 2026, and a third season of *Born Again* is currently being developed, though its release date is still unknown.

4) Ironheart

Dominique Thorne first appeared as Ironheart in *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever*, and the character then got her own limited series, *Ironheart*. Thorne will continue playing Ironheart in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, including voicing the character twice in *Marvel Zombies*. There’s also speculation she’ll be in *Avengers: Secret Wars*. Finally, many believe Sacha Baron Cohen’s Mephisto will return in future MCU stories as well.

3) Eyes of Wakanda

The recently released Disney+ animated series, *Eyes of Wakanda*, consisted of four episodes and is considered part of the official Marvel Cinematic Universe. While it likely won’t return for another season, its creator, Ryan Coogler, is currently working on the third *Black Panther* film.

2) Marvel Zombies

Unlike *What If…?*, *Marvel Zombies* was always planned as a limited series. Despite this, many fans still enjoyed it, especially hearing familiar voices like Awkwafina and Simu Liu from *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings*, as well as MCU actors from Disney+ shows like Iman Vellani, Dominique Thorne, Hailee Steinfeld, and Wyatt Russell.

1) Future

Besides the ongoing *Spider-Man* and *Daredevil: Born Again* series (and the potential *Champions* show), Marvel is developing several new projects for Disney+. These include *Wonder Man*, *Vision Quest*, and a currently unnamed Marvel Studios special – which might be the planned Punisher series first hinted at in connection with *Daredevil: Born Again*.

Following the events of *WandaVision*, *Vision Quest* will continue Vision’s story and even bring back James Spader as Ultron. Meanwhile, *Wonder Man* introduces Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside Ed Harris playing his agent. Ben Kingsley will also reprise his role as Trevor Slattery, last seen in *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings*. *Wonder Man* is scheduled to premiere in December of this year, and *Vision Quest* is planned for release sometime in 2026.
