Ron Howard has a beautiful mind—and a scary dark side.
During his cameo on the show “The Studio,” where he received a 2025 Emmy nomination, Ron’s on-screen anger, though fictional, took even the star and co-creator Seth Rogen by surprise. (You can view all the nominations here.)
During our exclusive chat with TopMob News and his co-stars, Seth expressed that he was genuinely taken aback by how enraged he appeared. He essentially said, “I believe I’d hurl my hat at your face.
And indeed, Ron did. Many times.
Seth grumbled, “He whacked my head repeatedly with that hat for around eight tries in a row, right in the skull.
Seth remarked that the hat-tossing incident was merely a fragment of the larger puzzle of chaos, taking place within the unique environment of The Studio. Given the star-studded lineup consisting of Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders, it’s hardly surprising that things might get chaotic!
In simpler terms, during filming, the actor from ‘Superbad’ often said “settle,” which functioned as a way to quiet everyone down. It’s both an advantage and a challenge to work with friends, as there’s a lot of flexibility, but things can get chaotic at times.
According to Chase, it was Kathryn Hahn who brought about the most laughter on set. She would do so frequently and consistently, making everyone around her burst out laughing.
In fact, it turns out laughter was in abundance on the Apple TV+ show.
According to Ike, “If there was an issue with a take during a scene, Seth would often burst out laughing,” which essentially meant, as Seth clarified, “A humorous way of letting everyone know they made a mistake.
Nevertheless, with some criticisms surrounding its production, the show amassed an incredible 23 Emmy nominations at the July 15 ceremony, becoming the record-breaking breakout comedy series with the highest number of nominations in history.
In the star-studded lineup, Seth, Ike, Catherine, and Kathryn were all nominated, along with recognition in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. Furthermore, Bryan Cranston, Dave Franco, Anthony Mackie, Martin Scorsese, and Zoë Kravitz were among the guest stars who also received nominations. Notably, several of these nominees were recognized for portraying heightened versions of themselves.
After the nominations were announced by TopMob News, Catherine expressed her delight for everyone involved in the show and felt privileged to be among them. She also mentioned how joyful she was that Ron Howard and Martin Scorsese are receiving long-overdue recognition, thanks to “The Studio”!
