After the huge success of the 2023 Mario movie, a new film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, is coming to theaters.

Based on the popular Nintendo Wii game, the movie brings back many familiar characters and introduces some new ones.

Here’s a complete list of the actors who star alongside Chris Pratt in the new Super Mario movie.

Chris Pratt as Mario

Okay, so Mario? He’s basically a plumber from Brooklyn who somehow ended up in this crazy place called the Mushroom Kingdom through this weird pipe. In the first movie, he’s gotta stop Bowser and his whole army from, you know, ruining everything and save Princess Peach. And he actually does it, trapping Bowser! Pretty awesome, right?

You probably recognize Chris Pratt from his role as Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation. Since then, he’s become a major movie star, appearing in popular franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World, plus films like The Magnificent Seven, Passengers, and The Lego Movie.

Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach

Princess Peach is the princess who rules the Mushroom Kingdom. She was originally kidnapped by Bowser, who wanted to marry her. After getting away from his castle and finding herself in Brooklyn, she teamed up with Mario and his friends to defeat Bowser.

Okay, so you might recognize Anya Taylor-Joy from a bunch of stuff, but I first really noticed her as Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit – seriously, that show was amazing! But she’s been in a ton of other cool projects too. I’ve seen her in Peaky Blinders, and I’m super excited to check out Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. She was also great in The Northman, Emma, The Menu, and Last Night in Soho – basically, she’s been popping up everywhere lately!

Charlie Day as Luigi

Luigi is Mario’s younger brother. He’s known for being a bit of a scaredy-cat, and he arrived in the Mushroom Kingdom with Mario.

You probably recognize Charlie Day from his role as Charlie Kelly on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. He’s also been in movies like Pacific Rim, Horrible Bosses, Monsters University, and The Lego Movie. Plus, he helped create the Apple TV+ comedy Mythic Quest.

Jack Black as Bowser

Bowser is the King of the Koopas and the leader of the Dark Lands. In the first movie, he became obsessed with Princess Peach and tried to kidnap her to force her into marriage. However, Mario defeated him, and Bowser was shrunk down with a Mini Mushroom and trapped inside a jar.

You probably recognize Jack Black from movies like School of Rock, High Fidelity, Kung Fu Panda, and Tropic Thunder. He recently played Steve in A Minecraft Movie, and he’s also one half of the comedic musical duo Tenacious D.

Keegan-Michael Key as Toad

Okay, so who is Toad? Well, he’s one of the main guys living in the Mushroom Kingdom, and actually, he was the very first character Mario met when he got there! He’s super loyal to Princess Peach and really helped Mario out in the first movie – he was a big part of getting Bowser defeated and shrunk down to size.

You probably recognize Keegan-Michael Key from the comedy duo Key & Peele, which he formed with Jordan Peele. He’s also been in a number of popular movies, including Horrible Bosses 2, Pitch Perfect 2, Wonka, The Lego Movie, and Toy Story 4.

Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr

Who is Bowser Jr? Bowser Jr is Bowser’s son and Prince of the Koopas.

You might recognize Benny Safdie from his work as a director – he often teams up with his brother Josh on films like Uncut Gems and Good Time, and also directed The Smashing Machine by himself. He’s also acted in movies like Oppenheimer, Licorice Pizza, and even Happy Gilmore 2.

Donald Glover as Yoshi

Yoshi is a friendly, green creature that looks like a dinosaur. He starts as an egg and then teams up with Mario and Luigi to help them on their journeys.

You probably recognize Donald Glover from his role as Troy on the show Community. But he’s done a lot more! He created and starred in the acclaimed series Atlanta, appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Solo: A Star Wars Story, and even wrote for 30 Rock. Plus, he’s a successful musician known as Childish Gambino.

Brie Larson as Rosalina

Rosalina is a princess who comes from space. She’s like a mother to the Lumas, which are little star-like beings.

You might recognize Brie Larson from her Oscar-winning performance in the 2015 film Room. She’s also well-known for playing Captain Marvel in several Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movies. Beyond that, she’s appeared in films like Kong: Skull Island, 21 Jump Street, and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Glen Powell as Fox McCloud

Fox McCloud is a highly skilled pilot and the main character in the Star Fox series of video games. He’s the leader of the Star Fox team.

You might recognize Glen Powell from recent hits like Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, and Anyone But You. He’s also been in Spy Kids 3-D, Hidden Figures, The Running Man, and will appear in the upcoming film How to Make a Killing.

Luis Guzmán as Wart

Wart is the main villain in the 1988 video game Super Mario Bros. 2. He’s a frog-like character known for being a formidable opponent.

Okay, so you’re wondering where I know Luis Guzmán from? Man, that guy’s been in everything! I’ve definitely seen him in classics like Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and Punch-Drunk Love – those were directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. He also worked with Steven Soderbergh on Out of Sight and Traffic. Oh, and he was awesome in Carlito’s Way and The Hard Way. More recently, I totally recognized him as Gomez Addams in Wednesday on Netflix – he nailed that role!

Issa Rae as Honey Queen

Who is Honey Queen? Honey Queen is a queen bee who rules over the Honeyhive Galaxy.

You might recognize Issa Rae from her breakout role in the HBO comedy series Insecure, which she co-wrote and starred in. Since then, she’s appeared in popular films like Barbie, American Fiction, Vengeance, and The Hate U Give, among others.

Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek

Who is Kamek? Kamek is a wizard-like Magikoopa who serves as Bowser’s most trusted advisor.

You probably recognize Kevin Michael Richardson’s voice! He’s a veteran voice actor with a long career, and has lent his talents to many popular shows and movies, including Lilo & Stitch, Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, TMNT, and Transformers Prime.

The Super Mario Galaxy movie is currently showing in UK cinemas.
