After a short sneak peek, Nintendo and Illumination have now released the first full trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The trailer shows what happens immediately after the first movie (be warned, there are spoilers if you haven’t seen it yet!) and confirms that Rosalina and Bowser Jr. will both appear in the film.
Brie Larson, known for her role in Captain Marvel, voices one character, and Benny Safdie, from Oppenheimer, voices another. The movie features exciting moments like Princess Peach battling many Ninjis, and Mario and Luigi having a *Mad Maxinspired bike race through the desert. Rosalina also shows off her skills, easily destroying a huge robot.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit US theaters on April 3rd, 2026. According to producer Chris Meledandri from Illumination, the animation is nearly finished. He also hinted that the movie will feature a wide variety of characters, from well-known classics to some more obscure favorites.
Since Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are directing again, and Matthew Fogel wrote the script, the new movie will probably feel familiar and appeal to longtime fans.
