The Terminal List Creator Wants To Turn Series’ Fan-Favorite Book Into a Movie

Chris Pratt’s leadership in the Prime Video adaptation of Jack Carr’s “The Terminal List” helped turn it into a beloved show despite some mixed reviews. This success led to the creation of a prequel series called “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.” In an interview with ComicBook, Pratt expressed his ambition to adapt all of Jack Carr’s novels and create a complete “Jack Carr Cinematic Universe.” Author and series creator Jack Carr also shared his plans for bringing the character James Reece to the big screen, with intentions of turning one of the most popular books in the series into a feature film.

Carr stated that “Savage Sun” is ideally suited for a movie. While it could also be turned into a series, it’s the book that would translate best onto the big screen. Carr expressed his enthusiasm about exploring this option and creating something cinematic. They recently watched the first episodes of “Dark Wolf” in a large theater, and the experience was remarkable compared to watching it on smaller screens. Essentially, they are creating television shows, but making one specifically for the big screen would be extraordinary. In terms of structure, pacing, action, and narrative, “Savage Sun,” Carr’s third novel, is particularly well-suited for a feature film lasting between 90 minutes to 2 hours.

In the wilderness of Montana, James Reece recovers from brain surgery following the incidents in “True Believer,” setting the stage for “The Terminal List” Season 2 adaptation. However, his peace is shattered as he becomes a marked man, hunted by the Russian mafia and a treacherous CIA agent who seek to claim his life. The narrative unfolds as a gripping tale of survival, reversing the roles from the first book, with Reece now the prey rather than the predator. He is pursued relentlessly through the mountains by a ruthless Russian operative who finds pleasure in the chase. To evade capture and regain the upper hand, Reece employs all his skills to navigate the harsh terrain and counterattack his hunters. The intense storyline and raw conflict make it an ideal candidate for a thrilling, two-hour movie experience, distinguished from the broader conspiracy threads in other books.

The Terminal List Prequel Is Also Getting a New Book

In a distinct shift for the “Terminal List” franchise, the upcoming prequel series titled “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf” deviates from its original source material by being an original story rather than an adaptation of a novel. Author Carr has been closely involved in its creation, and he expressed his intention to reverse the usual process and write a book based on this new story. Unfortunately, prior obligations have stopped him from following through with this plan.

Carolyn Carr shared that she’s working on a different book titled ‘Cry Havoc,’ set in 1968 during Vietnam, focusing on James Reese’s father. Originally planning to complete it by December 1st last year, she found herself immersed in the details of 1968, transforming it into a historical thriller. The intricate process took longer than expected, causing a delay in its release, now set for October 7th. Once ‘Cry Havoc’ is published, Carr will resume work on the novelization of ‘Dark Wolf’.

Carr initially intended to create a novel adaptation from the scripts, blend it with an unspecified element, and release the book simultaneously with the show. It would have been exciting, he mentioned. However, he has a fresh strategy now, choosing not to disclose it at this time. As we anticipate a potential second season of “Dark Wolf”, he hinted that there’s more ground to cover as we delve deeper into the character of Ben Edwards.

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf premieres on Prime Video on August 27th.
