The new Disney+ series, The Testaments, is a continuation of the story told in The Handmaid’s Tale and features Chase Infiniti in her first major role. Infiniti gained recognition for her performance in the Academy Award-winning film, One Battle After Another, earlier this year.
She plays Agnes, a teenager at a prestigious school run by Aunt Lydia, where young women are trained to become the wives of men in power in the dystopian world of Gilead, as depicted in the 10-episode series inspired by Margaret Atwood’s novel.
The first run of The Handmaid’s Tale, from 2017 to 2025, was notable for its use of powerful pop and rock songs to highlight the show’s intense and often disturbing scenes. Memorable examples include Kate Bush’s ‘This Woman’s Work’ in a particularly difficult scene during season two, and Simple Minds’ ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ which played at the end of just the second episode.
Brittany Whyte, the music supervisor for both The Testaments and The Handmaid’s Tale, as well as shows like You and the original Gossip Girl, has kept up the excellent practice of choosing impactful songs from various time periods for the new series.
The soundtrack features music by Adam Taylor, as well as popular songs from various decades. Many of these tracks are performed by female artists, including Blondie, 1960s group The Dixie Cups, and the Belgian choir Scala & Kolacny Brothers.
