The Thursday Murder Club favourite confirmed for Prime Video’s Tomb Raider TV series as cast unveiled

The upcoming Tomb Raider series on Prime Video has added several new actors to its cast, including Celia Imrie, known for her roles in ‘The Thursday Murder Club‘ and ‘The Celebrity Traitors’.

Joining the cast alongside Imrie, who will play Francine, the British Museum’s head of advancement, are Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs.

Sigourney Weaver, known for her roles in Alien and Ghostbusters, will play Evelyn Wallis, a secretive woman interested in using Lara’s abilities. Jason Isaacs, famous for Harry Potter and The White Lotus, will play Atlas de Mornay, a character from the established story.

The trio join the previously announced Sophie Turner, who will be leading the cast as Lara Croft.

The Tomb Raider movie is also adding Martin Bobb-Semple as the character Zip and Bill Paterson as Winston, a character known from the video games.

Joining the cast are Jack Bannon as Gerry, a character from the Tomb Raider world, and John Heffernan as David. Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, and August Wittgenstein will also appear in the film.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator of Fleabag, has a deal with Amazon and this new series is her first project since signing with them in 2019.

Jonathan Van Tulleken, known for his work on shows like Shōgun and The Changeling, will direct the new series. He’ll be working alongside Chad Hodge (Wayward Pines, Good Behavior), who will share showrunning duties with Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Turner shared that they’ve always been a big fan of Tomb Raider and Lara Croft, admiring how she stands strong as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field. They see her as a powerful and inspiring female role model.

Waller-Bridge expressed her excitement about the cast, saying they exceeded all her expectations. She’s delighted to have adapted both well-loved characters and introduced some fresh faces in the series.

Filming for the show will begin later this month, but we don’t know when it will be released yet.
