The Traitors season 4 final sees two worthy winners – and proves once again why it’s unmissable TV

With the ravens gone from the castle, the game has ended and the winners have been crowned. After twelve episodes, twenty-two players, and many nail-biting final moments, Rachel and Stephen were revealed as the Traitors who successfully won the game.

Wow, the finale kicked off with a huge moment – Rachel, who everyone thought was a goner, somehow avoided banishment! Honestly, while Jack was visibly upset about James leaving, I think the producers were secretly relieved. It set the stage for some real drama, because Stephen and Rachel immediately threw their earlier alliances out the window and started playing each other. Talk about a twist!

The final round was incredibly satisfying! Stephen managed to avoid being targeted again, and Rachel dominated her opponents with ease, skillfully maneuvering Faraaz. This led to Jade’s elimination, leaving only four players. Fifteen minutes later, the game concluded with Rachel and Stephen putting aside their differences after Faraaz was out, and they jointly defeated Jack, splitting the £97,750 prize – each taking home £47,875.

Both Stephen and Rachel deserved to win. Stephen proved himself by building strong relationships and overcoming serious accusations, while Rachel skillfully handled attacks from both Fiona, a fellow suspected traitor, and Harriet, a dedicated investigator.

Forget the finalists – the true champions are the creators of this season of The Traitors. They successfully followed up last year’s star-studded series with another gripping four weeks that kept everyone on the edge of their seats.

Critics used to dismiss Love Island as having a very simple and shallow concept: people talking, and then others talking about what they said. When singer Lee Ryan appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and led on two women, he even received death threats. Surprisingly, The Traitors, which relies on the same basic human behaviors – watching others, trying to get on their good side, gossiping, and backstabbing – has become a hugely popular, high-quality show, attracting over 8 million viewers each night. It’s a strange contrast, to say the least.

Now that the show has been such a hit, the producers face a new challenge: living up to this success in the future. Luckily, there’s a good amount of time before the next series airs. This gives us a chance to appreciate the heartwarming camaraderie we see on shows like Bake Off and Sewing Bee, and enjoy the positive image they present, before The Traitors returns to remind us of our more competitive side.
