The Traitors season 4’s Secret Traitor reveal sees impressive overnight ratings confirmed for BBC One

**Warning: Contains spoilers for The Traitors season 4**

The fourth episode of The Traitors season 4 aired last night, January 7th, and drew a large number of viewers as the Secret Traitor was unmasked.

After Saturday’s episode of the BBC show featured a mysterious figure in a red cloak walking towards the tower, viewers were anticipating this reveal.

The recent plot twist clearly captivated audiences, drawing an average of 7.3 million viewers for the episode, according to initial ratings.

This is a significantly larger audience than the 6.4 million who watched the fourth season’s premiere overnight.

As a huge fan of The Traitor, I was completely floored by this season’s twist! It turns out Claudia Winkleman actually chose a secret Traitor right at the beginning, someone even the other Traitors and the Faithfuls didn’t know about. This person was responsible for giving the regular Traitors the shortlist of people they could potentially ‘murder’ each round – it was a brilliant, sneaky move that really upped the game!

Wednesday’s episode revealed Fiona as the secret traitor, as she met with fellow Traitors Stephen and Rachel in the turret.

Wednesday’s episode had two big surprises: the identity of the Secret Traitor was revealed, and we learned that Ross has been secretly dating psychologist Ellie, even after he was exiled.

Ellie didn’t let on to anyone else in the competition what she was really thinking. Instead, she confided in the cameras, telling them she was determined to get justice for what happened to him.

You can continue watching season 4 of The Traitors on Wednesday, January 7th, 2026, at 8 PM on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. If you’ve missed any previous episodes, seasons 1 through 3 are currently available on iPlayer.
