Ballistic Moon, the UK studio behind the PS5 remake of Until Dawn, has closed down.
In early February 2026, a final notice was published announcing the company’s upcoming dissolution. This means the company will be formally closed within three months of February 3rd, 2026. Reports of Ballistic Moon effectively shutting down surfaced just over a year ago, and now that closure is confirmed.
The UK-based studio only worked on the PS5 remake of Until Dawn. While it updated the popular PS4 horror game, the new version received mixed reviews. Problems with how smoothly the game ran and the fact that players couldn’t upgrade from the PS4 version brought its Metacritic score down to 70 – nine points lower than the original game’s score.
Our review of Until Dawn on PS5 gave it a 6/10. While the game looks much better thanks to improved graphics and has a few small gameplay improvements, it’s hard to recommend at its price. It costs three times more than the original game from nine years ago, and there’s no way to upgrade from the older version. Thankfully, the game did receive updates that added Performance and Fidelity modes.
