The updated Battlefield 6 PC system requirements have arrived ahead of launch with new Ultra specs — I’m stoked it’ll have this huge feature, too

As an analyst, I find it challenging to capture the pulse of the gaming community regarding Electronic Arts’ (EA) and DICE’s Battlefield series over the past few years. While Battlefield V received a mixed response, Battlefield 2042 has been universally perceived as a failure.

It appears there is a high likelihood that the franchise will experience an enormous resurgence with Battlefield 6, set to launch on October 10 for Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PS5. This new installment promises to deliver some of the most exhilarating and dynamic multiplayer experiences in the series’ entire history for players across these platforms.

The creators astonished gamers worldwide by unveiling an extraordinary multiplayer feature, validating the comeback of Battlefield’s signature character roles and advanced environmental damage mechanisms. At the same time, they upgraded the visuals, gameplay experience, and selection of content to unprecedented levels.

As an observer, I found myself immersed in the much-anticipated open beta for Battlefield 6, which spanned across two weekends this month. This early access allowed players to delve into the game before its official launch. However, it wasn’t without its share of debate; the gaming community, in particular, expressed dissatisfaction regarding the state of Rush mode and the absence of an official server browser. Despite these issues, the beta performance was impressive, even surpassing Call of Duty’s Steam player count record.

Now that the beta phase is completed, DICE has released a revised set of Battlefield 6’s official PC system specifications which you can find below. Important modifications and upgrades have been made, such as altering the game’s storage demands and suggestions for top-tier (Ultra) graphics settings.

It’s not unexpected that the specifications required to play Battlefield 6 might be quite demanding, considering its visually stunning appearance and the grandeur of its 64-player battlefields. However, surprisingly, the system requirements outlined here are rather reasonable.

You can now comfortably play the game on hardware up to five to six years old, such as NVIDIA RTX 2060 graphics cards or Intel Core i5-8400 CPUs, which manage a stable 30 frames per second at 1080p with Low settings. While this may not offer the optimal experience for a fast-paced multiplayer shooter, it’s still playable, and even on Low settings, the visuals are quite appealing these days.

It’s rather unexpected, actually, because the suggested hardware requirements are quite minimal. Even with a graphics card like the RTX 3060 Ti and a CPU such as the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, you can engage in combat at 1440p with a consistent 60 frames per second (FPS) on High settings. Honestly, that’s quite astonishing, and it’s even more so when considering additional features like Super Resolution upscaling or AI Frame Generation-features DICE has confirmed the game will include.

The requirements for Ultra gameplay are quite demanding, particularly if you aim for a smooth 4K resolution at 60 frames per second or a high 1440p at 144 frames per second. According to the developers, an RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card, top-tier processors, and 32GB of RAM are recommended. To fully optimize Battlefield 6’s settings, potential upgrades might be needed.

A potential concern arises when considering the necessary prerequisites for UEFI Secure Boot and HVCI in relation to Battlefield 6, given that its advanced anti-cheat solution at the kernel level is likely to elicit debate due to its extensive system access. Such programs are indeed powerful tools in combating hacking activities.

Players will find a vast array of more than 600 customizable settings in the game, covering aspects such as HDR and user interface scaling, camera adjustments, and even a special mode for streamers. The PC version’s Frequently Asked Questions provide additional details on these options.

  • A comprehensive menu of graphical and performance settings
  • HDR
  • Tweaks for HUD, HUD scaling, HUD icons & crosshair
  • Camera settings
  • Controllers, controller schemes, input devices, haptics
  • Streamer mode & Incognito mode
  • And more

9 ultra-wides and the broader 32:9 super ultra-wides. This is a significant advantage, especially for me who owns an ultra-wide monitor. Standard 16:9 panels are still popular, so it’s great when game developers consider the needs of those who prefer the less common alternative.

To verify if your PC can run Battlefield 6, you can type “dxdiag” into the Windows Search Bar and select the command prompt that appears. This action will open a window where you can find your GPU on the “Display” tab, while all other relevant information can be found on the “System” tab. On the other hand, you can easily check your hard drive space using Windows File Explorer.

As a tech enthusiast, I’d like to point out that Battlefield 6 can be purchased from multiple platforms like Steam, EA App, and the Epic Games Store on PC. However, if you buy it through Epic, you’ll need to launch the game via the EA App. On the other hand, if you opt for Steam (and let’s face it, who doesn’t love Valve’s client?), you can bypass the EA App. Regardless of where you purchase from, an EA account is essential for playing the game.

Pre-orders for Battlefield 6 are currently open, with the Standard Edition priced at $70 (thanks for keeping game prices around $80, EA…at least temporarily). It’s not essential to pre-order for access to the Open Beta, but if you choose to do so, you’ll receive some exclusive cosmetic items.

In the meantime, before its release, feel free to dive into Battlefield 2042 as it has just received a significant unexpected upgrade. This update includes a fresh take on the iconic Iwo Jima map and a new Battle Pass offering aesthetical perks for Battlefield 6.
