It’s been over three years since the popular AMC series The Walking Dead ended after eleven seasons. The show was a huge cultural moment and launched the careers of many of its actors. Some of those actors continue to appear in The Walking Dead spin-offs like Dead City and Daryl Dixon, while others have moved on to new roles. Recently, a new thriller series starring one of the Walking Dead actors premiered on Paramount+.
Following his role as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Andrew Lincoln is back in a leading TV role with Coldwater. The psychological thriller premiered in the U.S. on Paramount+ on January 9th, after initially airing in the U.K. in September. Lincoln plays a dissatisfied man who moves his family to a quiet town in Scotland and becomes friends with his unusual neighbor, Tommy. However, a string of strange occurrences leads him to wonder about Tommy’s true nature. The six-episode series is exclusively available to Paramount+ subscribers with the Premium plan, with new episodes released every Friday until the finale on February 13th.
Andrew Lincoln’s Coldwater Is a Gripping and Addictive Thriller That You Won’t Want To Miss
After a decade away from leading roles outside of The Walking Dead, Lincoln’s latest show is getting good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics giving it a 67% rating. While the plot can sometimes feel predictable and fast-paced, it’s still a compelling show that offers dark humor, plenty of suspense, and an interesting look at harmful ideas about what it means to be a man. You won’t want to miss it!
Critics have praised the thriller Coldwater, with Tilly Pearce of Radio Times giving it 4 out of 5 stars and calling it a gripping, unmissable series that ‘keeps you in a chokehold’ from start to finish. Carol Midgely of The Times described it as the most original thing she’d seen in ages – delightfully unpredictable and impossible to stop watching. David Lincoln’s performance as John, labeled ‘the anti-Grimes’ by The Guardian, has also been highlighted, particularly his compelling dynamic with Ewen Bremner’s Tommy, who is his polar opposite. Overall, the series is addictive, captivating, and refreshingly unusual.
Will There Be a Coldwater Season 2?
The future of the show Coldwater is currently uncertain. ITV hasn’t decided whether to renew it for a second season or cancel it. However, the show’s creator and writer, David Ireland, hopes it will continue, as he’s very interested in exploring the characters and their stories further over several more seasons.
