For nearly four months now, I’ve found myself reminiscing about our shared journey through “The Wheel of Time,” a series that came to an abrupt end on Amazon Prime Video after just three seasons. The void left behind is palpable, as both fans and the cast continue to grapple with its untimely cancellation.
Natasha O’Keeffe, who entered the popular fantasy show as Lanfear during its second season, is the most recent cast member to express her thoughts on the series being canceled. She described the news as a shock for everyone involved and admitted that her character was only beginning to truly develop.
She shared with Collider: “I believed that Rafe Judkins, the showrunner, would already be aware of this news, given his role. Yet, we all remained optimistic. It felt as though we were just getting started. It seemed like season 3 was poised to soar. So, indeed, we’re very disappointed. Lanfear was merely beginning to heat up.
She commented that it seems you must endure the blow, and afterwards, you’ll need to find a way to carry on. It’s truly devastating. No one had a proper farewell since we all thought we would meet again during the next round.
That team is truly charming. For such an extensive and imaginative production, it felt like a genuine family project, with everyone working together as one cohesive unit. So it’s about picking oneself up, taking a deep breath, and saying, ‘Alright then, let’s move forward.’

Based on information from Deadline, it appears that Amazon Prime Video decided not to continue the series after extensive discussions, a choice believed to be driven by budgetary considerations.
After catching up on recent news, showrunner Judkins shared his optimism that the series could carry on somewhere else. In a statement, he expressed: “I am confident that we will navigate through this current phase of the industry and return to our forte – introducing compelling characters into people’s homes and lives each week.
As a devoted cinephile, I pondered: “Could The Wheel of Time find another network to complete its epic tale? Regrettably, such events aren’t commonplace. Yet, they do occur. Intriguingly, one reason we initially chose Amazon as our home was because they were in the process of reviving The Expanse after SYFY decided to pull the plug on it.
Maybe the television adaptation of The Wheel of Time will continue, just like the books have done since they started, challenging conventional ideas about beginnings and endings. I sure hope it does, because this series and its followers deserve to witness the conclusion of the story.
Additionally, Stars such as Stradowski and Rosamund Pike have voiced their opinions about the show’s termination. Furthermore, over 220,000 supporters have initiated a petition appealing for the revival of the series.
