The Wildest Movie of The Decade Is Now Streaming (And It’s Based on a True Story)

As a movie lover, I’ve always been fascinated by films rooted in real life. So many of my favorites – like *Schindler’s List*, *Erin Brockovich*, and even recent masterpieces like Christopher Nolan’s *Oppenheimer* – draw inspiration from actual events and people. But one “based on a true story” movie that came out in 2023 really took the cake – it was an absolutely crazy story, and now it’s finally available to stream!

This October, Peacock added a bunch of new movies and shows, including the 2023 comedy-horror film *Cocaine Bear* on October 14th. The movie is loosely based on a true story from 1985, where a bear accidentally ate a large amount of cocaine that was dropped from a plane. However, unlike what actually happened, the film depicts the bear going on a wild, drug-fueled spree, causing chaos and leaving a trail of victims in a small Georgia town.

Cocaine Bear Is a Wildly Fun Movie

While not groundbreaking, *Cocaine Bear* is a wildly entertaining, no-brainer B-movie. It takes the unbelievable true story of a bear finding cocaine and turns it into a ridiculously fun and gory adventure. The film fully delivers on its promise, offering a perfect mix of laughs and scares as a drug-fueled bear wreaks havoc. You’ll be both laughing and screaming!

Despite its over-the-top silliness, *Cocaine Bear* is simply a fun, rewatchable movie. It was a financial success, earning $90 million on a budget of just $30–35 million, and features a dedicated cast – including Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Ray Liotta in one of his last performances. The film’s energetic score and throwback ‘80s horror vibe also add to the experience. Critics and audiences generally liked it, with a 65% rating from critics and a 71% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Director Elizabeth Banks has expressed interest in a sequel, though one isn’t currently planned.

New Movies on Peacock

Peacock has a lot of new movies available for streaming. Each month, NBCUniversal adds many titles, and most of October’s new releases became available on October 1st. Subscribers can now watch movies like *Event Horizon*, *Friday Night Lights*, *Hot Fuzz*, and *Jason Bourne*.

Peacock is getting viewers ready for Halloween with a spooky lineup of movies! This month, they’ve added horror classics like *Friday the 13th*, *Fright Night*, *The Mist*, and the original *The Omen* (from 1976), which you can now stream along with *Cocaine Bear*.
