Great news for Final Fantasy fans! Square Enix is releasing a new Dissidia game, and they’ll be showing it off in full on October 14th.
Here’s the catch: right now, this is only confirmed for mobile devices, and it’s almost certainly going to be a free-to-play game where you collect characters through a random system. The company making it hasn’t done a great job with these kinds of games in the past.
An English website is now available, suggesting the game will probably be released globally if you enjoy free-to-play games.
It’s clear that many fans will be disappointed this isn’t shaping up to be a typical Dissidia game, like the beloved ones on the PSP.
The publisher did release a console version called Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for the PS4 in 2018, which was originally an arcade game only available in Japan in 2015. However, most fans agree it isn’t as good as the older games on the PSP, and we’d really like to see those PSP versions added to PS Plus Premium.
