A highlight of the recent PlayStation showcases was Sony’s announcement of classic games coming to the higher tier of its PS Plus subscription service, PS Plus Premium.
And we actually got some PS2 bangers during today’s presentation.
The immediate lineup is as follows:
- Gitaroo Man: 16th June 2026
- Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy: 28th July 2026
- Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams: 25th August 2026
This suggests Sony will continue releasing one classic game each month, and honestly, that’s a great lineup so far.
Released in 2001, Gitaroo Man shares a similar quirky and creative spirit with the PlayStation classic, PaRappa the Rapper. It’s a genuinely enjoyable and original rhythm game experience.
Released in 2004, Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is a fun third-person shooter where you use telekinesis and manipulate physics to get through challenges.
I believe Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams will be a fantastic way to build excitement for Capcom’s upcoming game in September. Originally released as a PlayStation 2 exclusive in 2006, it was very well-received when it first came out.
This is a solid collection of games, and I’m really looking forward to playing them again. Hopefully, they’ll all include Trophy support, which some recent releases from Bandai Namco, such as Time Crisis, haven’t had.
