‘These Are Not Timed Exclusives’: Xbox Says Gears of War, Clockwork Revolution Are Never Coming to PS5

Xbox has clarified that the newly announced Gears of War games, E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, won’t be temporary console exclusives. Both games will be released solely on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

In a statement on Microsoft’s official website, the company said:

We’re excited to be bringing Xbox back strong, and as part of that, we’ve confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will only be available on Xbox consoles. These games won’t be released on other platforms at any point. We’re still committed to our previously announced plans for games coming to multiple platforms, and we’ll continue to invest in Xbox on consoles and other areas.

It’s becoming harder to follow Microsoft’s plans, but this suggests they’ll release some games exclusively on their platforms while making the majority of their titles available on everything else.

Evidence suggests that Gears of War: E-Day was being developed for the PlayStation 5, with ratings and store listings appearing to confirm this.

Microsoft surprised many today by announcing that several new games – State of Decay 3, Senua, and Spyro: A Realm Beyond – will be available on PlayStation 5 right when they launch.
