Despite this, it managed to be financially successful, raking in over $333 million globally while spending between $87.5 and $100 million to produce. The sequel, Rise of the Silver Surfer, released in 2007, also received mixed reviews, earning a 37% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes with an audience approval rating of 51%. However, it still managed to gross $301.9 million against a production budget between $120 and $130 million.
Despite some mixed reactions to the two Fantastic Four films, it’s clear that a dedicated fanbase continues to cherish these movies. Michael Chiklis, in particular, highlighted the enthusiasm shown toward these supposedly flawed movies.
Now, after all these years, it seems folks are finally admitting that these films are enjoyable, family-oriented flicks… they managed to get many things correct. Despite their flaws, they’re truly excellent motion pictures.
