The BBC has unveiled initial photographs for their upcoming crime series titled “This City is Ours,” offering a glimpse into the treacherous realm of a dominant organized crime group residing in Liverpool.
In this portrayal, Sean Bean assumes the roles of both family head and gang boss, Ronnie Phelan. Alongside his on-screen spouse, Elaine, played by Julie Graham, he skillfully manages their shared criminal operations.
Following a prosperous, albeit unlawful, phase in their lives, the pair are considering retiring as we encounter them in This City Belongs to Us.
This situation makes Michael, a long-term friend and colleague (Michael, also known as James Nelson-Joyce), ponder if perhaps it’s the right moment for him to part ways as well.
It appears that Michael is deeply smitten with his latest girlfriend, Diana (Hannah Onslow), and fantasizes about a more peaceful existence with her, away from the hazardous tasks he’s been performing in connection to Ronnie’s cocaine network for quite some time.
Regrettably, Michael’s peaceful departure becomes highly unlikely when Jack McMullen, Ronnie’s son, steps up to seize control of the gang, potentially leading to Michael’s exclusion instead.
In this production titled “This City is Ours,” we find Saoirse-Monica Jackson from Derry Girls and Stephen Walters, known for his role in Slow Horses, portraying individuals belonging to the competing Crawford family faction.
In this production, Kevin Harvey takes on the role of Robert Duffy, similar to how Laura Aikman portrays Rachel Duffy. Additionally, Mike Noble is cast as Banksey, with Bobby Schofield playing Bonehead among the group of other gangsters.
The series “This City is Ours” was developed and penned by Stephen Butchard, a renowned figure in the industry due to his previous works like “The Last Kingdom.” Saul Dibb (“The Sixth Commandment”), John Hayes (“Nightsleeper”), and Eshref Reybrouck (“Undercover”) all take turns directing this production.
After learning about his role in the show, Nelson-Joyce expressed to reporters: “I feel incredibly privileged to join this thrilling production. From the moment I read the initial script, I knew I wanted to be involved with this captivating tale of crime, loyalty, and most importantly, love.
