Monster High Movie Coming to Theaters Near You
Mattel has tapped Gerard Johnstone, the director of the hit movie *M3GAN*, to helm the upcoming *Monster High* film, which will be produced by Universal Pictures and Akiva Goldsman’s Weed Road. Given Johnstone’s knack for campy comedy in *M3GAN*, he seems like a perfect fit for the *Monster High* universe, and Mattel clearly agrees. Following the massive success of the *Barbie* movie, Mattel is probably hoping *Monster High* will be their next big franchise, and it’s certainly a possibility!
Robbie Brenner, head of Mattel Studios, explained that Gerard’s creative and genre-mixing approach is ideal for the new *Monster High* movie. She emphasized that Mattel Studios is focused on collaborating with talented filmmakers to create original and surprising stories based on their popular brands. Brenner believes *Monster High*, a beloved franchise, has limitless potential, and they’re excited to revamp it with Gerard leading the project.
