This Musical RPG’s Not Going to Appeal to Everyone, But We’re Moving It to the Top of Our PS5 Wishlist

Musical RPGs aren’t entirely new – games like Stray Gods and, to some degree, Eternal Sonata have explored the genre before.

We’ve been really impressed with People of Note, the new adventure game for PS5 developed by Iridium and published by Annapurna.

This movie isn’t for everyone, and the trailer will make that clear right away – but we fully embrace that, and are committed to delivering exactly what our intended audience wants.

Here’s the official blurb, straight from the PS Store:

Embark on a musical adventure in this unique turn-based RPG! Play as Cadence and gather a band of musicians as you chase your dreams of stardom. Battles aren’t just fights – they’re dynamic musical performances where you’ll use ever-changing conditions and mix up genres to create powerful attacks!

Heather Gonzalez will be the actress for the character Cadence, but the singing voice for Cadence will be provided by the popstar LEXXE.

These songs need to be strong enough to keep the battle system engaging throughout a whole campaign, and we’re still hopeful they will be.

If nothing else, this is a really brilliant idea.
