Before it came out, *The Conjuring: Last Rites* was predicted to be a big hit, and for good reason. The previous *Conjuring* movies – including the main series and spin-offs – had earned a total of $2.2 billion worldwide, making it a leading horror franchise. Adding to the excitement, this film was promoted as the last time Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga would play the famous paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, making it feel like a special event. All of this came together perfectly, and *The Conjuring: Last Rites* broke box office records when it opened. Now, it’s continuing to do well and is on track to reach another significant achievement soon.
As of today, *The Conjuring: Last Rites* has earned $332.6 million worldwide. This already makes it more successful than other horror films like *Weapons* ($259.5 million) and *Final Destination Bloodlines* ($310.4 million). *Last Rites* is quickly gaining on *Sinners* ($366.6 million) and is poised to become the highest-grossing horror movie of 2025. With only $34 million separating the two, it’s likely *Last Rites* will soon surpass *Sinners*.
The Conjuring: Last Rite‘s Box Office Run Explained

The movie *Sinners* took months to earn $366.6 million, but *The Conjuring: Last Rites* is on track to exceed that amount in just a few weeks. *Last Rites* got off to a much faster start with a very strong opening weekend, earning $84 million domestically – significantly more than *Sinners*’ $48 million debut. Globally, *Last Rites* also had a record-breaking opening for a horror film, bringing in $179.2 million compared to *Sinners*’ worldwide debut of $63.5 million.
Following its huge opening weekend, *The Conjuring: Last Rites* saw a significant drop in ticket sales its second weekend – a typical result after such a strong start. While *Sinners* performed better domestically, earning $45.7 million, it didn’t attract as much of an audience internationally, bringing in only $88.1 million overseas – just 24% of its total worldwide earnings. *Last Rites*, on the other hand, has earned $202.1 million internationally, accounting for 60.7% of its global revenue. This strong international performance has significantly boosted the film’s overall earnings, propelling the final *Conjuring* movie up the 2025 worldwide box office chart.
Despite receiving mixed reviews (a 57% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), *The Conjuring: Last Rites* is performing remarkably well. This is especially noteworthy when compared to the previous three films in the series – *Sinners*, *Weapons*, and *Final Destination Bloodlines* – all of which were critically acclaimed and enjoyed strong box office success thanks to positive word-of-mouth. The fact that *Last Rites* is on track to outperform them all demonstrates just how popular *The Conjuring Universe* remains, continuing to attract audiences since its debut in 2013 with no signs of losing momentum.
Given the financial success of *The Conjuring: Last Rites*, Warner Bros. is likely to continue the franchise in some way. They might develop new spin-off movies, similar to *Annabelle* or *The Nun*, hoping for similar results. The *Conjuring Universe* is well-established enough that future films don’t necessarily need to feature the Warrens to succeed. Another possibility is that Warner Bros. introduces a new direction for the series, centering on Ed and Lorraine Warren’s daughter, Judy, and her fiancé, Tony. It will be interesting to see how they proceed.
