This Sci-Fi From the Creator of Two 10/10 Masterpieces Is the Most Exciting Show Still to Come in 2025

As a huge sci-fi fan, I’m already getting excited about 2025! We’ve already seen some great stuff like Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17 with Robert Pattinson playing multiple versions of the same character. But the best is still to come – Avatar: Fire and Ash and Predator: Badlands are both scheduled to hit theaters before the year is out. I’m especially hoping Predator: Badlands delivers, because the Alien franchise really raised the bar this year with its amazing show, Alien: Earth, and Predator needs to keep up!

Noah Hawley’s sci-fi series is currently the best of the year, but a strong contender is coming soon. Apple TV is releasing a new show in November that aims to redefine the genre. This might sound like typical hype, but the creators behind it have a remarkable track record, including two critically acclaimed, all-time great shows.

The Creator of the Next Big Sci-Fi Show Knows a Lot About Science

You don’t need to be an expert to create a hospital or sci-fi show, but it helps if the creators understand the basics of what they’re depicting. Realism is important, even in fiction. Thankfully, Vince Gilligan, the creator of Breaking Bad, clearly understands this. His popular series follows a chemistry teacher who starts making methamphetamine after receiving a cancer diagnosis. While the show’s story is compelling, it’s the characters – Walter White and Jesse Pinkman – who truly captivate audiences. And even after their story concludes, the show continues with other engaging characters.

Created by the same mind behind Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul tells the story of Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer who eventually becomes Saul Goodman and gets involved in the criminal world. Similar to Breaking Bad, the show develops its characters beyond the main lead. Kim Wexler, Jimmy’s complex and often troubled girlfriend, undergoes the most significant transformation. Rhea Seehorn gives an outstanding performance as Kim, and she’s set to star in the creator’s next series as well.

Vince Gilligan is Keeping His Cards Close to the Vest With PLUR1BUS

Attaching the name of someone famous – like “From the creator of Breaking Bad” – can give a new project a lot of benefit. PLUR1BUS, premiering on Apple TV with its first two episodes on November 7, 2025, is hoping to capitalize on that recognition. The show is shrouded in mystery, but the basic idea is simple: everyone in the world is happy… except for Carol, played by Seehorn, who lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and doesn’t want to be. Carol will rebel against those trying to force her to conform and will investigate the reasons behind her unhappiness.

Okay, so here’s the good news: PLUR1BUS isn’t rushing things. It’s been greenlit for nine episodes for its first season, and they’re already planning a second! The creator, Gilligan, admits they don’t have every single plot point figured out yet, which would usually worry me. But honestly? With this show, that’s actually kind of exciting. It feels like they’re building something special and letting the story unfold naturally, and I’m totally on board with that approach.
