This Spider-Man Character is Perfect for The Last of Us Star After 2025 MCU Casting Comments

Bella Ramsey recently shared their interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there’s one character that seems like a perfect fit. After gaining recognition for roles in Game of Thrones and starring as Ellie in the hit series The Last of Us, Ramsey is quickly becoming a well-known actor. With upcoming projects like Maya, Sunny Dancer, Harmonia, they’re poised to become even more prominent, potentially leading to a role in the MCU they’ve expressed interest in.

Bella Ramsey is a popular pick among fans for a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). While many have suggested roles like Shadowcat, Squirrel Girl, or Mystique, Ramsey has publicly stated which character they’d be most excited to play – especially if it meant working alongside their The Last of Us co-star, Pedro Pascal. Pascal recently appeared as Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and Ramsey’s potential role could dramatically alter the future of the MCU.

Bella Ramsey Wants to Play Spider-Man in the MCU

During an interview with Variety at the HBO Emmys event in August, Bella Ramsey discussed potentially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When asked if they’d talked with Pedro Pascal about a role, Ramsey joked they could play Spider-Man, acknowledging Tom Holland’s already successful portrayal. They suggested Marvel might need to create a brand new superhero specifically for them. While Tom Holland has been Spider-Man in the MCU since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, there are still other options for Ramsey.

While Peter Parker is the most well-known Spider-Man, Marvel Comics features many different versions of the character. This opens the door for Bella Ramsey to potentially join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a new Spider-Person. Although Sony Pictures owns the rights to Spider-Man characters, their agreement with Disney and Marvel Studios, combined with challenges in building their own Spider-Man universe, could allow these characters to appear within the main MCU. There are many possibilities for who Ramsey could play, but one Spider-Person might be a particularly good fit.

Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman Is the Perfect Character for Bella Ramsey in the MCU

Jessica Drew first appeared as Spider-Woman in Marvel Spotlight #32 back in 1977. Many fans believe Bella Ramsey would be a perfect fit for the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as they’ve proven they can play complicated characters with troubled pasts while still bringing a lively and energetic presence to the screen. Jessica Drew became Spider-Woman after her father, a genetic scientist working with the High Evolutionary, gave her an experimental spider-based serum to cure a life-threatening illness.

After losing her parents and leaving the High Evolutionary’s base, Jessica Drew was initially manipulated by HYDRA, but she quickly escaped their control and became Spider-Woman. In another version of her origin story, she gained spider-like powers when her mother, while pregnant, was exposed to a beam of radiation containing spider DNA. Both stories give her powers similar to Spider-Man’s – like super strength, speed, resilience, heightened senses, and the ability to stick to surfaces. Because of these shared abilities, Jessica Drew is a great fit for actress Bella Ramsey to play the role.

Like Jessica Drew, Bella Ramsey’s character Ellie in The Last of Us has a troubled past – she lost her parents and gained special abilities before birth. Ellie is also a strong, brave, and direct hero with a bit of a rebellious side. This makes Ramsey an ideal choice to play a younger version of Jessica Drew in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and there are several upcoming projects where Spider-Woman could appear. Future films like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday (planned for 2026) might feature different versions of Spider-Man, potentially including Drew. Alternatively, continuing the story of the High Evolutionary from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 could introduce Drew’s origins. Ultimately, fans would be thrilled to see Bella Ramsey join the MCU in any capacity.
