Those Star Wars film status yet to be filmed…..

Now that Kathleen Kennedy has officially stepped down as head of Lucasfilm, she’s shared updates on the future of unfilmed Star Wars movies. Here’s what she said…

Simon Kinberg Star Wars film status

The first movie we’ll likely see is based on a script initially submitted in August 2025, which she felt was promising but needed further work. After a 70-page revision, a complete script should be ready for the studio in March 2026. The new Lucasfilm leaders, Filoni and Brennan, are very enthusiastic about the script and see it as the potential start of a new trilogy.

James Mangold Star Wars film status

Kathleen Kennedy and Beau Willimon (known for “Andor”) have written a story taking place tens of thousands of years before the first Star Wars films. Kennedy has praised the story as groundbreaking and fantastic, but also mentioned it’s currently not a priority.

Donald Glover & Taika Waititi films

Completed scripts have been submitted for each of the films, and they are all still being considered. Waititi’s script has been praised as “hilarious and great,” but final approval from Filoni and Brennan is still needed before production can move forward.

So, what’s the latest on those unconfirmed Star Wars movies? It’s a bit surprising to hear that Steven Soderbergh actually wrote a script called “The Hunt for Ben Solo,” but it seems that project is off the table. While David Fincher and Alex Garland had some initial talks, they never made any firm commitments. And when asked about Patty Jenkins’ “Rogue Squadron” or Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s “New Jedi Order” films, there was no update at all.

The next confirmed Star Wars movies are “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” scheduled for release in May, and “Star Wars: Starfighter” starring Ryan Gosling, which is coming out in 2027.
