The critically-acclaimed BBC drama “Accused,” starring Christopher Eccleston and Peter Capaldi, is now streaming on Netflix, giving viewers immediate access to all 10 episodes of the compelling series.
This drama series, broadcasted in 2010 and 2012 over two seasons, focuses on diverse individuals facing accusations and waiting for the outcome of their trials. Each episode presents a unique case.
The first season of the show features an impressive ensemble, including David Tennant (Doctor Who‘s Eccleston) and Matt Smith (Capaldi), along with Juliet Stevenson (Professor T) and Naomie Harris (from No Time to Die). In the second season, celebrities such as Anne-Marie Duff (Suspect), Olivia Colman (Broadchurch), and Sheridan Smith (Cleaning Up) make their appearances.
In my humble opinion, “The Accused” is a powerfully crafted drama that I had the pleasure of watching. This gripping masterpiece was skillfully penned by the talented Jimmy McGovern, whose artistic touch has left an indelible mark on television with other hard-hitting dramas such as the BBC’s prison saga, “Time,” and the poignant exploration of child abuse titled “Unforgivable.” If you’re a fan of thought-provoking storytelling, I highly recommend giving “The Accused” a watch.

The drama, which originally aired on the BBC more than a decade back, is now available on Netflix in the UK. Both seasons were launched on the platform on September 10th.
The show in question was widely praised by both critics and viewers, ultimately earning the title of Best Drama Series at the 2011 International Emmy Awards. Additionally, it bagged two accolades at the Royal Television Society Awards in 2013.
After gaining significant success, the series underwent a reboot in 2023 for an American audience by Fox. Notable stars such as Patrick J Adams from Suits, Cobie Smulders known for How I Met Your Mother, Ken Jeong famous from Community, comedian Whitney Cummings, and Rachel Bilson best recognized from The OC graced both seasons of this reboot.
