Tiger Woods Says He’s Seeking Treatment After DUI Arrest

Tiger Woods is weighing in on his recent arrest.

After a car accident on March 27th led to his arrest and charges for driving under the influence and refusing a drug test, the famous golfer publicly discussed what happened.

After entering a plea of not guilty, Tiger released a statement on March 31st explaining that he’s taking time away to focus on his health and get treatment. He acknowledged the seriousness of his situation and said prioritizing his well-being is essential for his recovery.

The 50-year-old stated they are dedicated to taking the time to improve their well-being, both in their personal life and career, before returning. They expressed gratitude for everyone’s understanding and asked for privacy for themselves, their family, and friends during this time.

According to Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek, the crash happened in Jupiter Island, Florida, when Tiger Woods tried to pass a pickup truck in his Land Rover. Sheriff Budensiek told reporters that Woods was driving fast on the two-lane road when the collision occurred.

According to the sheriff, Wood’s car flipped over after hitting another vehicle, and he managed to climb out through the passenger side.

Although officers at the scene found no injuries, they observed signs that Woods may have been impaired, according to Budensiek. However, investigators didn’t believe alcohol played a role in the incident.

The sheriff explained that Mr. Woods failed the breathalyzer test with a very high reading. However, he refused to take a urine test. Because of this refusal, while Mr. Woods will face charges under Florida law, they won’t be able to determine what substance caused his impairment at the time of the accident.

When deputies arrived at the crash site, they found two white pills believed to be hydrocodone pain medication in the driver’s left pocket, according to court documents obtained by TopMob News.

Long before the accident in Florida, the athlete was seriously injured in a car crash in Los Angeles, damaging his leg.

He was driving more than 40 miles per hour faster than the speed limit when the crash happened. A police report obtained by TopMob News shows he lost consciousness and sustained several injuries, including cuts to his jaw, bruised ribs, and broken bones in his right leg and ankle.

He underwent a three-week hospital stay and multiple surgeries as a result of his injuries.

He shared with Golf Digest in November 2021 that despite facing difficult times and challenges, he continues to improve and has regained the ability to walk.

Since his accident, Tiger Woods has made a comeback to golf. He most recently played in the TGL Finals in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, on March 24th.
