The city-building game Timberborn, known for its lumberpunk style, will officially release on PC through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG on March 5th, according to its developer, Mechanistry.
Timberborn first launched in Early Access on September 15, 2021.
Here are the latest details:
I’m so excited for the full release of Timberborn! As a huge fan, I’ve been following it in Early Access, and it’s amazing – the whole beaver colony building thing is so unique and the gameplay is incredibly addictive. It’s already sold over a million copies, which is fantastic, and it always has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam. The developers are currently letting people test out the 1.0 build, and they’re constantly updating it. They even just released a new trailer with Shaun Dooley – you might know him from Elden Ring or The Witcher on Netflix – doing the voiceover, and it’s full of cool lore! The official 1.0 release date is March 5th, and I can’t wait!
The latest trailer showcases the harsh and dangerous world where the beavers in Timberborn live, and will now play as the game’s opening cinematic. In a world nearing ruin, scarred by industrialization, a glimmer of hope remains – and it’s up to your clever beavers to rebuild what’s been lost.
Released into Early Access in September 2021, Timberborn quickly stood out as a unique city-building game. Its creative beaver theme and fresh gameplay mechanics immediately appealed to players. Throughout development, the team at Mechanistry listened closely to the community, using feedback to refine the game and create the ultimate beaver-themed city builder.
As a big fan of Timberborn, I’ve been amazed by how much the game has evolved! Each of the seven major updates hasn’t just been small tweaks – they’ve really changed how you play, adding some seriously cool new features. For example…
- Building out the two beaver factions into vastly different organizations, altering their paths of progress ( including different food production chains, buildings, and architecture).
- The introduction of 3D water physics, 3D terrain, and expanding vertical architecture.
- Official mod and Steam Workshop support for all players.
- The addition of badwater and badtides—a dangerous new season, like droughts.
- The inclusion of end-game goals, AKA wonders, complementing the game’s sandbox loop.
- The addition of bots and broadening the available building roster across all categories, from workshops to decorations.
- Addition of faction-specific mass transportation systems: speedy ziplines for the nature-loving Folktails and cutting-edge Tubeway tech for the industrious Iron Teeth.
- Expansion from seven to 16 built-in maps.
