Timothée Chalamet‘s new hairstyle—or lack thereof—is no longer a complete unknown.

The 29-year-old recently shaved his head after sporting long brown curls over the summer. He first showed off the new buzzcut in an Instagram video posted by Marty Supreme on October 7th.

Timothée Chalamet showed off his new look in person while out in New York City. He was spotted wearing a navy half-zip sweatshirt, loose jeans, brown boots, and a denim baseball cap that offered a subtle hint of his transformation. He also hid his shaved head with a black baseball cap while attending the New York Film Festival on October 6th.

I’ve been following his style closely, and it’s been so interesting seeing how he’s kept his new haircut hidden for months! It started back in July when he was on vacation with Kylie Jenner in Saint-Tropez – he wore a green bandana. Then, in London last month, he went to a soccer game with a camo cap *under* his black hoodie. He’s definitely been working to keep things a secret!

With filming for *Dune: Part Three* scheduled to start in July, according to *Variety*, it’s likely the Oscar-nominated actor shaved his head for the part. Timothée Chalamet often changes his appearance to better fit his roles.

To prepare for his role as Bob Dylan in the film *A Complete Unknown*, he completely immersed himself in the character, focusing on both physical appearance and mannerisms. He even gained 20 pounds, as he was initially lighter than Dylan himself, he explained to NPR’s *All Things Considered* in January.

It wasn’t a straightforward path to success for him. Earlier in his career, he was often overlooked for roles because of his slim build, rather than being given opportunities.

He explained to *Rolling Stone* in 2024 that he consistently received the same rejection: being told he didn’t have the right physique. He specifically mentioned *The Maze Runner* and *Divergent* as projects where this was the reason he wasn’t chosen.

However, the rejection opened up a new path for him that led his career to skyrocket: indie movies.

I thought I was approaching something simple, but it turned out to be a really big deal – and not in a good way.
