Tineke Younger, known as Tini, is sharing a helpful hint for anyone trying to make her popular mac and cheese recipe.
The chef who became famous on TikTok for her Thanksgiving side dish – the recipe has already been viewed over 103 million times – says she’s seen a frequent error when people try to make it. Here’s how to make sure you don’t make the same mistake.
For anyone trying this for the first time, I recommend taking it slow,” Tini shared with TopMob News. “I use a generous amount of liquid – a can of evaporated milk and two cups of heavy cream. The key is to add it gradually and then let it simmer.
Tini, 24, has observed that her followers often rush when mixing ingredients, and this can negatively affect the final result of the recipe.
Sometimes people complain the mac and cheese is too watery,” she explained. “That’s likely because they didn’t stir it slowly enough. You just need to be patient and taste it as you go to get the right consistency.
Tini, who is expecting twin daughters with her husband, Antoine Wright Jr., also said you don’t have to follow her recipe exactly.
Everyone tastes things differently, so the amount of seasoning I use will vary. I add spices gradually, tasting as I go, to see if I need more of something like garlic powder, smoked paprika, or salt.
Ultimately, the Next Level Chef alum encouraged amateur chefs to trust the process.
“Just take your time,” she added. “Don’t stress out, it’s just mac and cheese.”
When it comes to making other holiday food, Tini suggests beginners don’t try to do too much at once. She believes a simpler menu is better when you’re just starting out.

She said it’s perfectly fine to use pre-made buns instead of baking your own. She also suggested doing as much preparation as possible the day before Thanksgiving to make things simpler.
She suggested focusing on making just two things from scratch to really impress people, and it’s perfectly fine to buy everything else pre-made.
This holiday season, Tini is working with HelloFresh to make cooking easier for beginners and help fight hunger. From November 8th to 15th, they’re offering special meal kits, and up to $50,000 from the kits’ sales will be donated to No Kid Hungry, ensuring kids have access to meals.
Tini explained that she already volunteers at a women’s shelter, where she interacts with women and children daily. She viewed this new opportunity as just another way to give back and help others.

And for her, it is doubly important to do so during the busiest time of year.
Tini explained that people often have less money to spend during the holidays, so she’s happy to use her platform to support No Kid Hungry. She feels it’s a natural fit because the organization focuses on food, and she’s excited to help in an authentic way.
