Russell T Davies is back with a new, compelling drama. This time, he revisits the vibrant setting of Canal Street, but tells a story quite unlike his famous series, Queer as Folk.
Tip Toe examines the growing hostility and increasing dangers faced by LGBTQ+ individuals, reversing what many saw as recent positive advancements in acceptance.
The story is told through the eyes of Leo, a gay club owner played by Alan Cumming, and his neighbor Clive, played by David Morrissey. Their quiet life together is disrupted when a series of events unfolds over just one week.
The series, filmed in part in Manchester’s vibrant Gay Village, will feature many familiar songs. However, it’s also distinguished by its unique and eerie original music.

I was really impressed with the music in ‘Tip Toe’! The original score was done by Sam Watts. You might not know the name right away, but trust me, you’ve definitely heard his work on other projects – it’s fantastic!
Today, this musician is most famous for composing the music for the popular BBC One show, The Traitors, and its celebrity version. Their score is now a familiar sound in homes across the UK each time the show airs.
He’s also worked with Russell T Davies, the creator of Tip Toe, before – on Doctor Who’s spin-off shows, The Sarah Jane Adventures and Tales of the TARDIS.
Other credits include Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, Being Human and Planet Earth.
