One of the year’s biggest movie successes in 2025, even beyond superhero films, was the introduction of Marvel’s Fantastic Four to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans who were eager to see the team in action can now watch the movie on Disney+.
The popular sci-fi movie, which earned $521.9 million worldwide, is now streaming on Disney+ as of November 5, 2025. It was released for digital rental or purchase on September 23rd, and became available on Blu-ray, 4K UHD, and DVD the next month.
Directed by Matt Shakman, known for his work with Disney+, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is a heartfelt and visually distinct comic book movie. The film is set in a reimagined 1960s where technology is far more advanced. It centers on Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic (played by Pedro Pascal), his wife Susan, the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), her brother Johnny Storm, the Human Torch (Joseph Cross), and their friend Ben Grimm, who transforms into The Thing.
Four years ago, a space mission gone wrong gave the team extraordinary powers, turning them into Earth’s protectors. Now, they face their biggest threat yet: a cosmic being named Galactus (voiced by Ralph Ineson), who plans to destroy the planet. Warned by the Silver Surfer (played by Julia Garner), the Fantastic Four must make a difficult choice that could endanger everyone – including Reed and Sue’s infant son, Franklin.
The Future Of The Fantastic Four In The MCU
After a successful and satisfying chapter, it’s clear we’ll be seeing more of these characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was always likely, given their importance to the overall story.
A hint of the Fantastic Four’s arrival appeared a few months prior in a previous film, where the team – then known as The New Avengers – saw a spaceship with a large number “4” crash into their world. Before that, the actors who would play the Fantastic Four in Fantastic Four: First Steps were already confirmed to be part of the impressive cast during Marvel Studios’ big announcement video.
Okay, so I think we finally have a huge clue about how the Fantastic Four will fit into Avengers 5, which is coming out December 18, 2026. It all came down to that little scene after the credits of their own movie. We see young Franklin Richards – he’s only four! – getting visited by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom. It’s pretty clear from that Doom isn’t just after Earth, he wants to control the entire Multiverse, just like Galactus! It’s setting up a seriously big conflict.
What happens to the Fantastic Four after Avengers: Doomsday is still unknown, but most people expect they’ll continue having adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
