A search is underway for Savannah Guthrie‘s mom.
The Today anchor confirmed that Nancy Guthrie, who resides in Arizona, has been reported missing.
She shared in a statement on February 2nd that her family is grateful for all the support, prayers, and kind messages they’ve received. Their priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Savannah was absent from the NBC morning show on Monday as the investigation continues.
Police in Arizona are looking for an 84-year-old woman who was reported missing on February 1st, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.
We usually don’t need to involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details coming from inside the house are really troubling,” he explained to reporters. “This case was particularly unusual based on what we were told when we arrived and what we actually discovered at the scene.
I’m absolutely heartbroken about Nancy. Her family last saw her at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 PM on January 31st. They reported her missing to 911 around noon the next day, and it’s just awful. The sheriff hasn’t said much about what they found at her house, but I heard homicide detectives are involved now, which is terrifying.
“This isn’t how we usually handle things,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called out when someone dies, when we have a body to investigate. This time, we responded solely based on the information the surveyors gave us.”

“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”
With the search for Nancy still ongoing—and involving teams using surveyors, search dogs, drones, and helicopters—officials believe she may have been out in cold temperatures overnight.
Mr. Guthrie explained that while his mother, who is 84, isn’t physically well, her mind is still sharp. She has some health problems that make it difficult for her to get around, but she isn’t experiencing any memory loss or confusion.
