Individuals aiming to accumulate PS Stars points for redeeming on the PS Store credit should act swiftly within the following 24 hours and a bit, as the option to obtain points from your gaming transactions will be temporarily unavailable starting tomorrow, 23rd July.
Sony’s latest action marks another phase in its gradual shutdown of the PS Stars rewards program. Back in May 2025, the service ceased onboarding new users, followed by the distribution of the last digital item for users to accumulate last week. Now, the earning of Points from PS Store purchases and any associated level-ups or collectibles will no longer be available.
Here’s the official wording from Sony:
Members of PlayStation Stars can continue to gather Digital Collectibles, accumulate Points, and advance their level within the program until July 23, 2025 at 7:59AM PDT | 3:59PM BST | 11:59PM JST. After this date, no new campaigns for PlayStation Stars will be available, nor will there be any extra rewards or benefits to obtain.
After the deadline, any PS Stars points you currently possess will continue to be usable. However, starting from now, you won’t be able to accumulate more points from your purchases at the PlayStation Store. So, if you require additional points for a particular item after today, there won’t be any other means to obtain them. The PS Stars system will officially close down on November 2nd, 2026.
To accumulate £5 / $5 worth of PlayStation Store credit, you’ll need to amass 1,250 points. These points can be used on a variety of items available in the digital storefront. The next most affordable options are Digital Collectibles, priced at 800 points. By purchasing items from the PlayStation Store, such as PS5 games and DLC, you’ll accumulate additional PS Stars points.
If you’ve got your eye on any games currently discounted on the PlayStation Store, it would be wise to buy them today. Starting tomorrow, you won’t accrue any PlayStation Stars points for your transaction.
