Todd Chrisley Confirms Trump Personally Signed His Pardon

Todd Chrisley, known from the reality show Chrisley Knows Best, recently discussed his pardon by President Donald Trump. Both he and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were accused of tax evasion, wire fraud, and bank fraud back in 2019.

After being found guilty on all counts by a jury, Todd and Julie were each sentenced to 12 and 7 years in prison. However, they both received pardons from President Trump and were released in May 2025.

Todd Chrisley has finally addressed the question of whether Donald Trump personally signed his and Julie’s pardons or used an autopen – a topic that’s been widely debated. On his podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, he stated that their pardons were “not autopenned.”

Todd Chrisley, the head of the Chrisley family, recently addressed reports about autopens being used to sign documents. He stated he’s noticed a lot of discussion about this in the news and wanted to assure everyone that Donald Trump personally signed their documents while he was fully conscious.

Look, one thing I really want to clarify is that President Trump actually signed my pardon – I saw it happen on video. There’s been a lot of talk about these ‘autopen’ machines being used, but I can assure everyone mine wasn’t one of them. He signed it himself, and he was fully conscious when he did. I just wanted to set the record straight.

This seemed to be a jab at Donald Trump calling Joe Biden “Sleepy Joe,” despite Trump being filmed himself dozing off during public appearances in recent months.

I find it a bit ironic that Trump is now criticizing Biden for using an autopen to sign documents. It turns out, almost every president in recent history – Trump included – has used one at some point. It’s something that’s just become a standard practice, so it seems a little unfair to single out Biden for it.

I first discovered the Chrisleys through their reality show, Chrisley Knows Best. It was a huge hit, running for ten seasons – I remember watching it from 2014 all the way up until 2023! It was actually still on TV when Todd and Julie got caught up in their legal issues back in 2022, which was pretty wild to see unfold.

Once the jury found them guilty, Judge Eleanor Ross announced the couple would not only serve prison time, but also repay the $17.8 million they had stolen from the banks. Shortly after, the USA Network canceled their reality shows, Chrisley Knows Best and Growing Up Chrisley.

Todd and Julie Chrisley began their prison sentences in January 2023. Shortly after, in February and March, the final season of their reality show, Chrisley Knows Best, aired.

Savannah Chrisley stepped up to help her parents, Todd and Julie, and fight for their release. She worked tirelessly behind the scenes, even contacting the White House, and kept the public informed with regular updates and press conferences about her efforts.

Although Chrisley Knows Best had ended, the Chrisley family continued with reality television. They began a new series that initially focused on Savannah, her brothers Chase and Grayson, their grandmother Nanny Faye, and other family members as they adjusted to life after their parents were incarcerated.

Cameras filmed the instant Todd and Julie Chrisley were freed from prison after receiving a pardon from Donald Trump, capturing their emotional reunion with their children.

I was watching The Chrisleys: Back to Reality – it came out in September 2025 – and honestly, it was tough to watch Todd. He just kept insisting he and Julie hadn’t done anything wrong, even after a jury had already decided they had. He really played the victim, which felt… frustrating, to say the least.

Generally, a pardon implies someone is admitting they did something wrong. This understanding comes from a 1915 Supreme Court decision in the case of Burdick v. United States.

The stars of Chrisley Knows Best are hoping to continue appearing on reality television, though their exact plans aren’t yet known. One thing is for sure: Todd Chrisley intends to keep sharing his family’s story.
