For the past year, the Spawn comic books – King Spawn, Gunslinger Spawn, and The Scorched – have been leading to a major crossover event. That event finally happens in The Scorched #50, which also concludes Todd McFarlane Productions’ special 50/50/50 program. This program celebrated the 50th issues of King Spawn and Gunslinger Spawn with special releases. We’re excited to give you an exclusive first look at some of the limited-edition covers for The Scorched #50, including two signed by Todd McFarlane – covers he won’t be signing again after this.
The latest issue of The Scorched, #50, will launch with a variety of impressive cover designs. The primary cover (Cover A) is by Todd McFarlane himself. A special, rarer variant (Cover F), known as the Copy Incentive Virgin Color cover, is also available and features the artwork without any title or publishing details. This variant is a 1:100 rarity.
For collectors seeking a rarer option, there’s the 1:250 copy incentive black & white inked cover by McFarlane, which is signed by Todd and comes with a CGC Certificate. Importantly, McFarlane won’t be signing this cover again. The even more limited Raw Pencil Virgin cover (Cover H), with a 1:1000 rarity, is also available. This one will not only be signed by McFarlane but will also include an original sketch inside the comic.
Fifty orders will feature original sketches by Todd McFarlane. After those are fulfilled, sketches will be created by other artists who’ve worked on the Spawn Universe, including Jonathan Glapion, Carlo Barberi, Brett Booth, Stephen Segovia, and Jason Shawn Alexander.
This special anniversary issue concludes the storylines from both King Spawn #50 and Gunslinger Spawn #50, and introduces a new villain for the Hellspawn universe. According to McFarlane, the story will feature a key character from Spawn’s history, adding another member to Spawn’s collection of enemies.
This is the last of my special offers for Sketch variants, which also include rare books shipped with the sketches. We’re hoping this issue keeps the momentum going from the last few months and continues the success we’ve seen with all our 50/50/50 titles, according to McFarlane.
As a big fan of Todd McFarlane and his work, I was thrilled to hear about a special private signing event he’s doing with CGC to celebrate the end of the 50/50/50 program! If you’re an international collector, you can send in your comics and cards for him to sign until November 14th, 2025. For those of us in the US, the deadline is December 1st, 2025. He’ll be signing everything with his full signature, and CGC is offering two really cool, exclusive labels for this event – one featuring the Spawn Universe logo, and a brand new McFarlane scroll design he created just for this signing. Okay, so as a huge comic fan, I just found out that issue #50 of The Scorched is hitting stores in March 2026! If you’re a retailer, you’ll need to get your orders in by February 2026 to make sure you don’t miss out.
