Todd Stashwick’s Potential Star Trek Comebacks: Enterprise & Picard Spinoffs

Popular actor Todd Stashwick could be returning to the screen in two exciting ways – with potential spinoffs connected to both Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Picard. While Enterprise originally ended in 2005, it’s gained a strong following over the past twenty years. And the third season of Picard was widely considered the best of the series starring Patrick Stewart as Admiral Jean-Luc Picard.

I remember when Todd Stashwick first appeared in the Star Trek universe – it was back in season four of Enterprise. He played a really clever character, Talok, who was pretending to be Vulcan but was actually a Romulan spy. Talok was key to a big storyline on Enterprise where Captain Archer and T’Pol had to stop the Romulans from taking control of Vulcan’s government. It was a great arc and really showed off Stashwick’s talent!

Todd Stashwick, who previously worked with Star Trek: Picard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas on 12 Monkeys, returned to play Captain Liam Shaw. While fans initially disliked Shaw because of his difficult relationship with Admiral Picard and Captain Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Stashwick’s strong acting completely changed their opinion, making Shaw a beloved character.

Todd Stashwick’s 2 Star Trek Comebacks Need To Happen

Todd Stashwick has the opportunity to reprise his role in two upcoming Star Trek projects: Star Trek: Legacy and Star Trek: United. He’s expressed interest in appearing in both, telling TrekMovie at a recent fan convention that he’d prefer Paramount Skydance prioritize Star Trek: United. His exact words are included below.

It would be amazing to revisit the role of Talok after so many years! It’s funny to think my next Star Trek project might be with Enterprise instead of continuing with Shaw. I’m eager to work again, and a return to that role would be fantastic for both me and my financial security.

I’m not choosing between Star Trek: Legacy and Star Trek: United because I’m open to whatever happens. Honestly, why not do both? I’ve explored both possibilities in my mind, and I’m happy to do so again. So, to the teams at Skydance and Paramount, I’d love to see United happen. If Legacy isn’t moving forward right now, let’s focus on United instead.

The new series, Star Trek: United, comes from Star Trek: Enterprise producer Michael Sussman and Scott Bakula. It’s planned as a political thriller and family story, bringing back Scott Bakula as President Jonathan Archer, tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets.

Scott Sussman has mentioned wanting Todd Stashwick, an actor from Star Trek: Enterprise, to reprise his role as Talok. Since the conclusion of Star Trek: Picard in 2023, fans have consistently asked for a Star Trek: Legacy series. Despite this demand, Paramount+ hasn’t taken any steps to develop the show.

If a new Star Trek: Legacy series is made, Todd Stashwick is expected to return as Liam Shaw. Even though Shaw died in Star Trek: Picard season 3, the show’s creator, Terry Matalas, always intended to bring back the beloved engineer – affectionately known as the ‘grease monkey from Chicago’ – in a way that’s fitting for Star Trek.

Todd Stashwick understands that creating Star Trek: Legacy is proving difficult due to the large number of important people involved both on screen and behind the scenes. Because of this, he suggests making Star Trek: United first, and he’d like to reprise his role as Talok in it.

Will Star Trek: Legacy & Star Trek: United Happen?

Now that Paramount Skydance, with CEO David Ellison—a Star Trek fan and producer of Star Trek Beyond—is in charge of the Star Trek franchise, making new TV shows for Paramount+ is a top goal. Before Skydance took over, Paramount+ had canceled most of its existing Star Trek series.

Despite consistent fan enthusiasm, creating a new Star Trek: Legacy series faces hurdles related to funding and scheduling the original cast – including Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Ed Speleers, and Todd Stashwick. The actors themselves have expressed interest in reprising their roles, so now it’s up to Paramount Skydance to make it happen.

Ever since it was first announced in August, Star Trek: United has been gaining popularity with fans. The possibility of Scott Bakula reprising his role as President Jonathan Archer is a major draw for Star Trek enthusiasts. However, despite significant creative work by Mike Sussman, Star Trek: United remains a concept and isn’t currently being developed as a TV show.

With 2025 drawing to a close, Paramount Skydance hasn’t revealed what’s next for Star Trek on Paramount+ after the planned endings of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (season 5) and Star Trek: Starfleet Academy (season 2) in 2027. Fans are hoping for continuation of stories related to Star Trek: Enterprise and Star Trek: Picard, and that Todd Stashwick will reprise his roles as Talok and hologram Liam Shaw in any future series.
