We’re excited about the potential for some unique and refreshing racing games to be released this year.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer is launching on PS5 on February 25th, and a new gameplay trailer showcases its fantastic retro style.
The game’s look, sound, and especially the unique vehicles, strongly evoke the feel of a classic PlayStation 2 title from 2001 – and that’s a good thing!
It feels fresh and exciting in a time when the racing genre has become fairly samey.
That classic feel isn’t a coincidence. The game was created by Genki, the studio known for the long-running Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, which first appeared in the mid-1990s.
This new installment successfully updates the series for today’s players while staying true to what longtime fans enjoy. After being available on PC for a while, it’s launching on PS5 in just a few weeks, and it confidently carves its own path.
We’re looking forward to getting started in February, and we’d love to hear your thoughts! Share your comments below.
