Tom Cruise has starred in a remarkable number of films throughout his career. He’s known for taking on diverse roles, appearing in everything from big-budget action movies to critically acclaimed dramas. No matter what kind of films you like, you’re likely to find a Tom Cruise movie you’ll enjoy. And recently, many people seem to be doing just that, with several of his films becoming popular on Paramount+. One film in particular is leading the way, but the viewing numbers show that subscribers are really enjoying his work.
Wow, Tom Cruise is absolutely crushing it on Paramount+ right now! According to FlixPatrol, which tracks what everyone’s streaming, four Mission: Impossible films are in the worldwide top 10, and The Final Reckoning is leading the charge. You can also find Mission: Impossible II at number 6, Rogue Nation at 8, and even Fallout sneaking in at 9. Here in the US, The Final Reckoning is the second most popular movie on Paramount+, only beaten by a surprisingly strong showing for the often-overlooked Channing Tatum flick, Roofman. It’s a great time to be a Tom Cruise fan!
I remember checking the box office numbers back on December 17th and being amazed – Tom Cruise had three movies in the top 10! There was American Made at number 6, Jack Reacher at 7, and of course, Top Gun: Maverick at number 9. As of today, Maverick is the only one still hanging in there, and it’s actually doing even better, now at number 6! It’s incredible how well that film continues to perform.
Why Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning Is Dominating the Paramount+ Charts

After a summer in theaters, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is now available to watch at home. It became available for digital purchase in August, on Blu-ray in October, and finally started streaming on Paramount+ on December 4th. It’s not a surprise that it quickly became the most-watched title on the service, as fans were likely eagerly awaiting its arrival. This has also boosted viewership of other Mission: Impossible films. After seeing The Final Reckoning, many fans might be interested in revisiting the earlier movies in the series.
Although The Final Reckoning wasn’t the most commercially successful Mission: Impossible film, it likely boosted viewership on Paramount+ because it was promoted as the end of the series. Many viewers felt it was a must-see event, as it concluded Ethan Hunt’s story. The film tried to wrap up storylines and bring back characters from earlier movies – with mixed results – and audiences were eager to see how director Christopher McQuarrie would bring everything together.
These streaming numbers also show that even though Tom Cruise isn’t the huge box office star he once was (outside of big franchise movies), people are still eager to watch his films. American Made, a surprisingly good crime comedy inspired by Martin Scorsese, is the type of movie that’s hard to get audiences to see in theaters these days, but does well on streaming. Cruise is still a well-known and liked actor, so simply seeing his name or face is often enough to get people to give a movie a chance, even if they hadn’t heard of it before.
Tom Cruise continues to attract audiences to his films, making him a valuable star for exciting new projects. Paramount is benefiting from its partnership with Cruise and is already planning a third Top Gun movie, which could be a big draw for their Paramount+ streaming service. Cruise’s next project is a dark comedy called Digger, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, as part of a new deal with Warner Bros. While it might not be a blockbuster in theaters, it’s expected to perform well on streaming platforms. The film industry has changed, and a film’s success isn’t solely measured by box office numbers anymore – there are now many ways for a movie to find an audience and be considered successful.
